come off it, nvidia have bettered every card they bring out by 10% and usualy 60%+ with an architecture change, the 7970 barley beats a gtx 580 in bf3 with aa
I was being concervative with 10% if im honest
Shut up. If that is really your budget then why do you need to come here. Common sense would dictate that at that budget you'd just buy the most expensive card available times 2 knowing that would do all you ask. After all your asking for multiple monitor support on one of the most demadnig games aailable and wanting two years future proof. Everyone knows a 560Ti isnt going to come close or a 570 or even a 580 so you didnt need to come showing off
Ive got an idea, hows about Lets all stop arguing about these plastic and metal cards and the future cards of plastic and metal we know nothing of yet.
Hows about we sit back and enjoy whatever plastic and metal cards we have and not give a flying cat bag which company made the thing because they are all going to be the same price/performance compared to each other anyway (7***'s and 6**'s) The only difference will be if you love one of the companies more than the other, maybe because you fancy the manager or something I dont know.
So you're saying that in order for Crossfire to be supported you'd have to wait 10 years, yet at the same time you're saying that support for a card is killed after 1 year? And it's interesting that you talk about useless bricks, as I can pick out examples where the opposite is true. For instance, AMD supports Crossfire in RAGE and nVidia doesn't support SLI... which would make AMD's drivers better than nVidia's.So for the OP the 7970 is a bad route to choose.
Maybe once amd sort the drivers out (could wait 10 years for that every time i have an amd card im always waiting for the next driver release to be dissapointed)
Also he wants the cards to last 2 years and in 12 months the support for the 7 series will dwindle meaning newer non masivly mainstream games will be left off the cf support list meaning the op is left with 1 good gpu and a brick in his case.
No one is saying that the 7970 is not quick, Cupra's point is that it's not that quick in BF3 as expected. Kepler is not that far away so the advice to the OP is wait.

With the latest AMD driver, the 7970 is about 30% faster in BF3 than a 580
The above image I posted, dated Feb 21st gives your card a 25% advantage. No one is saying that a 580 is better than a 7970. I would just wait for kepler that's all. Even if it's not 'big' kepler it should still help drive the prices down.
I just bought a 7970 widely available and in stock for £380... I would say if you looking to buy a GPU right now and want great performance then go ahead and buy it....
The way I see it is it will be the same... the 670 will be on par with the 7970 (maybe the 7970 slightly ahead) and the 680 will be better than the 7970 but cost more (around £400 I reckon) With the 570 and 7970 at about £350.
Throughout the year the prices will probably drop but I wouldnt expect them to drop instantly as soon as keplar comes out.... this is Nvidia were talking about, they are watching AMD make a killing of each card and they arent going to come in and undercut them completely they are going to stay with the high price/performance AMD have set and make some money....
Say you buy a 7970 for £380 now, its going to take atleast half a year before it will drop by £50..... and whats £50? less than a days work and for half a year of great performance thats great.
When Keplar comes the prices just arent going to crash that much.. they will obviously settle but the difference in terms of price/performance will only be like £20 less at the most I reckon compared to the 7970 at £380, Nvidia will want to make the most money they can, then throughout the year it will steadily drop.
I'm assuming AMD will drop their prices. The OP wants 2 years performance so I assumed that it would be worth waiting. The OP also wants to run multiple displays. I would be rather angry if I brought 2 X 7970's (lets call that £800 inc postage) if keplier turns out to be a monster of a card.
