BF4 CPU-Test: Windows 8.1 up to 50% faster compared to Windows 7

Have you tried running the .exe as was suggested?

Yes but this is what im trying get around the only way i can run the exe is if i have a previous Os already installed.

Like with retail version you just put the disc in an boot from that but with an exe ive got to already have an Os installed.

What im trying to get is a way to boot the exe from disc like a normal install.

Well considering he's admitted in the past to typing with no punctuation, bad spelling and sentence structure to purposefully annoy people I'm not sure what to make of him.

He likes to believe he's more intelligent than he is and that the idiocy in his posts is there on purpose but whether or not he attempts to insert anything to come across in any way the underlying person isn't hidden at all.

Try not to get too exasperated with him. I've found having friends that are care workers for the mentally challenged have helped me learn patience and such for these sorts of situations.

Ah right. Yeah, you won't be able to run that .exe from a disc no matter what you do.

Do you have another PC? You might be able to run the .exe on that in order to get the .iso file you need. Alternatively, wherever you bought it from might have the .iso to download if you sign back in.

I'm sure others can guide you better on this. My installs are all .isos I get from work.

Cheers French for the confirmation, ive logged in to MS where i bought it from (beginning of the year) but it shows no past purchase history.

Thanks for the help thou il buy a retail one from clockers now they are cheaper ;)

Most of the time he's fine, he's came on leaps and bounds compared to last year when nearly every thread was infected by his nonsense.

I don't like ignoring people on here and I was just genuinely trying to point out to Dg what it was we were getting at but it seems he can't look past the idea it was all benchmarks and fps :(

are you trolling? i posted exactly how to do it ! best thing is i did the same as you through the link i gave you only a few days ago :p

if you not sure how to do it and are trying to install a legit copy then contact microsoft live chat for help. they can do whatever is needed.

you do not need a disk or retail copy to do fresh installs.

login to your microsoft account go live chat explain what you want to do. they'll ask for your key to win8 to verify you aren't using counterfeit goods. then theyll give you a link or help you get it installed. fresh install takes 30minutes to 1hr .

Either re read what i wrote or go back school because the retard train just left!

So if ive got no Os installed an its an exe how do you install that clever boy! a link is no good if i have nothing like an Os installed to get to it! seriously are you trolling? or are you as bad as what the others are making out?

Hey guys!

I just found out that I can get W8.1 Pro free from college via Dreamspark! To be honest, I'm fairly happy with my current install of W7 but I haven't done a fresh install for quite some time. I'll probably stick it on over a weekend at some point just for the hell of it!

It says that you can upgrade from W7 keeping all your programs installed. Does anyone have any experinece with this? It sounds like it's asking for compatibility issues/bugs to me, but I could be wrong. Can any of you confirm if this works well?

Yeah ive done it that way before Prawn (W8), but the only way to get it work would be to have a Os installed previous,

So that means i gotta install W7 just to get W8 on :( if it can't be done its no problem il buy retail version.

I haven't upgraded to 8.1 yet myself but to be honest I would *always* go for a fresh install. As you say, there is a danger of compatibility issues, though I'd be more concerned about general performance and stability issues myself. A fresh install almost always feels nicer than an upgrade/old install.

So you've actually managed to install W8 before with that .exe but now you can't? I would definitely call up the place you bought it from (be that MS themselves or whatever reseller) and ask for them to sort you out. If you've already paid for the OS you should be able to get something sorted. At the worst you may be given W7 install media and asked to reinstall that so you can install W8.

+1 hence why i wanted iso version clean install from disc with no need installing w7 just to install upgrade w8 :(

I've no problem installing W8 French but i have to install w7 first an thats what im trying to bypass, as i way told i don't need install W7 to use the W8 upgrade.

W7- retail disc

W8 up grade- bought from MS beginning of the year m8 (exe)

Right. Do you have any sort of receipt? Something in a bank statement, an email, etc? Track that down and call them.

To be honest if you do a fresh install of W7 and then upgrade to W8 you aren't going to be in too bad shape. It's not as good as a fully fresh install but you're going to still be better off than upgrading a year-old install.

he doesn't need a receipt he just needs to go on windows live chat ! all they'll do is ask for his key ! its like a twilight zone moment.

An your un called for remark wasn't personal "are you trolling?" think before you post negatives to some one you don't even know.

I have the exe file which was dl from ms, i got told in a previous thread that i dont need to install W7 an i can just use the upgrade W8 which is fine.

But its an exe so if i don't have a previous Os installed i can't get it to run ;)

He said earlier that he could find no purchase history for W8. Hence: no key.

I'm not sure how him providing his W7 key would help matters.
