BF4 CPU-Test: Windows 8.1 up to 50% faster compared to Windows 7

your forgetting the benchmarks to back it up. or is all of those wrong? i understand what you saying but there isnt much difference in i5 or i7 with a single card.

those that argue against it try to bring sli in or crossfire or ht. ht for 99 percent of games makes no difference as most are console games.

bf4 is actually one of the most cpu catered for and in the benchmarks shown there is no difference. also if it was true the amd 8350 for eg would have scored higher than the i5 and it doesn't in any !

funny thing is people were also using the early beta with people getting odd drops on i5s this has mainly been sorted and the fps is even better now :D without drops. that was game related and not ht related like a lot were getting at.

Its not something you can really show with benchmarks - (not checked if frametimes show a significant difference). You need to play it and feel the difference in smoothness.

You've went off on one about benchmarks again and fps which isn't the point he's making at all.

Do those benchmarks you're referring to show CPU usage throughout the whole test?

no but when i have done numerous checks and benchmarks myself and can see what is what i know there is no real difference.

lets just agree to disagree. im off on bf4 :p

If that does come about then he can just do a fresh install down the line anyway

It *will* come about so why not just do it properly to start with? I know of nobody that works in a field that requires them to have systems knowledge that would ever use the upgrade option over a fresh install.

You don't have an i7 to test what he is saying though.

It's probably just down to specific setups and the game being in beta, you're right lets just agree to disagree.

Of course not, I wouldn't recommend it either but it doesn't mean everyone who upgrades will have problems later on. I'd imagine Microsoft have smoothed out the upgrade process compared to before to cater for things going wrong.

i dont need to when people i game with on bf4 every night have and we bench the game together ;)

That is a remarkably positive view given the amount of iterations of Windows there has been and how bad the upgrade process has been in each and every one.

It's something that is built for your parents to use on their PC that they check emails on. For any kind of power user it's a really bad idea.

I'm glad we agree on you not recommending it at least though :p

Well how? lol, like i said ive got an exe no iso.

How big is the .exe?

From memory, its not the entire windows 8 installation as a .exe, its only a few MB.

It basically looks at your pc and runs some tests and then near the end it says.. "OK how do you want to upgrade..."
And you select "I'll have the iso, k, thx, bye!!"

It wasn't about benchmarks though as you've been told in about 3 posts now, but whatever just read it how YOU want I guess

Unfortunately this is pretty much how Dg does things. At least this time he hasn't posted links to benchmarks proving himself wrong though.

what you mean ive benched the game at the same benchmarks settings as three articles my fps is within 2 fps of those tables.

i play with numerous people on my ts every night we have benched the game just like i did i gathered the fps i know what they get. once compared to the articles already about they are truthful.

so what do i need to prove when i know there is no difference? i collected what i need to know over hrs of playing with i5 and people with i7s. just because you dont think its right fair enough ill accept that.

i have posted my fps settings at low and ultra settings quite a few times.

must i do it every time one of you disagrees ?

tell you what you post your fps against i7 vs i5s same res same settings one card. otherwise what you say is all bs.

They're not saying that the benchmarks are wrong but that they do not reflect the perceived 'smoothness' of play. Personally I have my doubts about what they are saying too but I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand just because I have seen something that proves something unrelated.

Ive bought it ages ago when the £25 or £15 deal was knocking about from microsoft, its 5.23 MB in size.

So you're still going on about fps and benchmarks, did you even read Rroff's post?

To be fair to Dg, based on the way he writes all of our posts must be a dizzying myriad of jumbled words and letters to him. Imagine it all the posts on here looked like Dg's to you? You'd find it incredibly hard to make sense of.

Well considering he's admitted in the past to typing with no punctuation, bad spelling and sentence structure to purposefully annoy people I'm not sure what to make of him.
