Biden and the UK

We already import millions of pounds of meat from the EU. The Aussie meat imports as I understand are capped at the equivalence of 15% of that. What will happen over time is the Aussie quota will reduce what comes from the EU. There's also nothing to say the Aussie stuff will be cheaper than ours since they have the added cost of shipping.

Labelling is what is important so consumers can differentiate and make their own choices. The Aussie stuff may compete at the premium end but either way we aren't satisfying all our requirements without imports and it's giving us access to their markets too.

It's the EU that will loose out.

No UK farmers will lose out. This was a terrible deal for UK farmers. Aussie food standards are again no where near ours. This Gov is throwing our farmers under the bus in a desperate effort to get trade deals though so Brexit looks better. You claim to be a patriot but you don't seem to care about UK farmers. Also shipping more produce from the opposite side of the world is frankly ridiculous.

He was the radical leader the US needed. Someone with the balls to make decisions even if they weren't popular with all since they weren't likely to all be with those politically opposed.

We asked one of your mob to come back with answers to the same line of questioning . But he\she come back with

And we get the normal liberal answer.

Come on guys what did he do? A Muslim ban, a tax cut and a few miles of wall that is easily climbed or fell over in the wind. That is it. He had both chambers of Congress for 2 years and he got nothing done. He could have got a huge infrastructure bill though that would actually help Americans and instead he went after the ACA because "Obama" and failed. He was faced with one crisis in 4 years in covid and was found massively wanting. A total failure of leadership. From down playing it when he knew how dangerous it was as shown in the Woodward tapes, to his obsession with hydroxychloroquine which he said he was taking, when he was never taking it and then he caught covid anyway from his reckless behaviour. Lets not forget the washing your lungs out with bleach and sticking UV light in your body  He didn't even get photographed or let any press see him get vaccinated because he wouldn't want to upset his anti-vax base. He was a terrible leader plus a terrible human being.

What he did achieve was bringing the US close to a constitutional crisis with his "big lie" because he's such a shallow human being he couldn't accept he lost an election. Resulting in a mob taking over the seat of US democracy while he sat and did nothing.

Biden is far from perfect but considering what he replaced he's always going to look great if he just kept his head down and did the job.

Biden has been a politician for about 50 years though. He has more experience than most so I don't think being old is an issue. He isn't much older than Trump and Trump is certainly less healthy.

I think so many people (many in this thread) completely miss this little bit of info. BIden has a lot of experience and a team of advisors he listens to. Trump was the exact opposite which is also why even now he has been doing Fox interviews and phone-ins still bleating the exact same lies he has been chiming for years. Just days ago he claimed windmills are killing all the birds in one long rant to Sean Hannity who (of all people) had to cut him short because even that was too much for Hannity.

Are we all forgetting that on global televised conference trump said directly to an actual scientist "I don't think science knows"?

Crazy and mentally ill will always remain as such, so what does that say about his supporters?!

I also think that the abnormal and inexperienced nature of trump all these years getting the headlines has made people normalise that behaviour that now the US has a normal guy at the seat, any normal thing he does like a gaff here and there, suddenly gets the old "Sleepy Joe at it again" treatment through social media.

You haven't thought this out very well have you. If it is expensive it won't compete with our farmers because our farmers can't produce all of our needs anyway. It's no different from a range of standards already on offer from value cuts through to organic. The consumer will only buy so much Aussie meat because it will likely be priced higher than other alternatives.

He introduced foreign policy to address imports so he could start turning around the rot. Strict on immigration.

You mean he adopted socialist policies of handing out tax payers money to industries that were punished by his trade spat with China? And still record amounts of farmers went bankrupt under his presidency. Well done Donny.

Wow he stopped more brown people entering. Encouraged more white Europeans though. Something to be proud of

That isn't how cheap imports work. The clue is in the name

He just put tit for tat tariffs on Chinese goods

Which hasn't gone well: https://www.aeaweb.org/articles?id=10.1257/jep.33.4.187

We examine conventional approaches to evaluating the economic impact of protectionist trade policies. We illustrate these conventional approaches by applying them to the tariffs introduced by the Trump administration during 2018. In the wake of this increase in trade protection, the United States experienced substantial increases in the prices of intermediates and final goods, dramatic changes to its supply-chain network, reductions in availability of imported varieties, and the complete pass-through of the tariffs into domestic prices of imported goods. Therefore, the full incidence of the tariffs has fallen on domestic consumers and importers so far, and our estimates imply a reduction in aggregate US real income of $1.4 billion per month by the end of 2018.

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/16/tru...-of-the-largest-tax-increases-in-decades.html

President Donald Trump, having championed one of the larger tax cuts in recent years, has now enacted tariffs equivalent to one of the largest tax increases in decades.

A CNBC analysis of data from the Treasury Department ranks the combined $72 billion in revenue from all the president’s tariffs as one of the biggest tax increases since 1993. In fact, the tariff revenue ranks as the largest increase as a percent of GDP since 1993 when compared with the first year of all the revenue measures enacted since then, according to the data.

Trade Policies
In CBO’s estimation, the trade barriers put in place by the United States and its trading partners between January 2018 and January 2020 would reduce real GDP over the projection period. The effects of those barriers on trade flows, prices, and output are projected to peak during the first half of 2020 and then begin to subside. Tariffs are expected to reduce the level of real GDP by roughly 0.5 percent and raise consumer prices by 0.5 percent in 2020. As a result, tariffs are also projected to reduce average real household income by $1,277 (in 2019 dollars) in 2020. CBO expects the effect of trade barriers on output and prices to diminish over time as businesses continue to adjust their supply chains in response to the changes in the international trading environment. By 2030, in CBO’s projections, the tariffs lower the level of real GDP by 0.1 percent.

So he made them poorer.

What else did he do?

He had to make a start with doing something about China otherwise they'll slip into irrelevance.

Yeah Russia interfered in the elections to help Trump because he was hard on them
Just another example of why you can't trust Russia/Putin. For all of Trump many faults he at least didn't water down the existing sanctions imposed by Obama unlike Biden when he lifted sanctions so Russia could finish building the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
