Right guys, i'm just about to order the reba fork that was recommended above. Any other recommendations I should look at before ordering?

Also can anyone recommend a decent(ish) shock pump?

Funnily enough I actually have the Reba fork on my Stumpy and went looking for a shock pump at the weekend as my forks needed air. Picked one up from Halfords for just under 30 quid. Seems very good quality(made of metal, not plastic). Most importantly it did the job and very easily. Had my shocks up to 240psi in under a minute.

will be going for some SPDs soon to gain full efficiency for the climbs. The XT ones seem a bit steep. I've seen some Shimano Deore ones for around £45 in the sale. Any other recommendations?

My new bike (Second hand) needs some new pads, but looking at how to videos, looks like I need a red spacer to hold them apart to position them, which I dont have :(

Anyone have a spare or know what one (There's a few different types online) you need for Shimano Saints?

Guys can you help me out here, this might not make sense as im typing at work real quick, but i need an opinion, my mate bought a Giant TCR Advanced 2 last October, and we went out and done a few 40 miles runs, everything was fine. Then in December the shifter broke (Shimano 105) where a spring fell out and it went slack, so he took it back to the shop and they fitted a new one, no worries. We done a 30 mile run then put our bikes away for xmas, until Jan, then the next ride, the little aluminium bit where the shifter connects to the frame broke, the shifter with momentum got carried up and hit and broke the carbon frame where it says Giant on here http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/bikes/model/tcr.advanced.2/7309/44385/

Anyway, he takes it to the shop, and they send it away to Giant for analysis, this was in Jan, hes been bikeless since.

The shop said that Giant said it was caused by chain stretch? and wont replace the frame under warranty but will sell him a new frame for £600, which they then reduce to £500

Now, my point is, as the shop replaced and fitted his shifter, surely they should be kind of responsible, as i think they over torqued the screw when they put it back on and weakened the aluminium carrier because these things should just snap like that? they must have a setting for bolting ali to carbon?and i know that he treated the bike like gold dust so im 99% sure its not through miss use?

Anyway i just wanna get my buddy a bike back, because its boring riding alone:p

MegaHurtz; You don't really need a pad spacer to fit new pads... the pad spacers are generally used to keep the pistons and pads apart when transporting the bike with no wheels on (incase the levers get squeezed).

If you are replacing the pads, use the old pads and get a flat bladed screwdriver and gently push against the pads to push the pistons back into the calipers... You will probably ruin the pads, but since you're replacing them it doesn't matter.

I was wondering what the hoohaa is about the GT distortion over at ridemonkey forums.
All the DHers are getting onto it and ranting how great they are to do AM/FR/Enduro/MiniDH races on

Saw one guy in the expert elite category this weekend, and witnessed first hand what this thing can do in the right hands, it was incredible.
Only 140mm travel too!

Bit of a random quote from the past but I've been looking into this bike a lot today.

Had a ride on my FS yesterday after being out on my HT (140mm forks) for the past few rides. God it feels a lot slower! I really have begun to appreciate the feel of a hardtail and enjoy the instant acceleration you get.

Made me think I'd really like something with similar geo/feel to my Covert but with less travel.

The coil shock on the rear is just so ridicuously planted that it's literally making certain rougher sections of trails easy, it defines point and shoot at the moment. I find it a lot more satisfying picking through the rough with my hardtail to find the smoothest lines. But at the same time appreciate the traction when cilmbing.

For this reason I'd really like to either swap my CCDB for another air shock (Vip'r or give the Monarch Plus RC3 another try), or get something with less travel, like a Bandit or Distortion as above.

The Distortion looks cool and you can get the 2012 lowest spec model for £1500, would be ace to give the frame a try with some 140mm Devilles :D Can't find it as a frame only at the moment though.

Ah lovely stuff thinks, going to have a play once my new pads come through :)

Just a quick question going to the alps for a week at the start of July to ride down some big old hills! Going to get some new rubber for my DH bike before i go, anyone got any suggestions?

Cheers, Will

This talk of getting rid of the CCDB is madness! What you need is another bike.
