sometimes you have to complain everywhere to get a resolution.

how often on these ocuk forums have we seen people having issues, someone finds an MD's phone number etc and oh everything gets sorted

boardman are supposed to be halfords premium flag ship bikes (even if the prices don't really suggest they are premium bikes in comparrison to what some people own on here)
halfords should treat people with boardman bikes as premium customers and try to keep them happy as the majority of people who buy them likely have money and will spend it at halfords if the customer services are good

Arknor is king of rage.

It could well be that the bearing has play in which won't help matters. It may well be part of a kit that Halfords can source but if the part timer doesn't know how to work the till he won't find the part.

If I can be bothered/I remember, I'll have a look for the part number for the spare bolt/bearing kit tomorrow.

If not then don't shoot me/send Arknor to moan the face off me.~

Edit : In other news, photos from France are trickling through. (this isn't me, but one of our group)

What does that prove?

Try to google and see how many OCUK rage threads there are. I'm sure there's lots (as with any large store) but does that mean you shouldnt shop at OCUK?

thanks - if you could find the part number i'd appreciate it.

i'll take it apart again and look for the bearing bit :)
the bike is 2 years old, i'm not the thinnest and i've had a few tumbles so it is pretty marked

it would if people were buying a prebuilt pc that was either incorrectly assembled or crashing all the time and ocuk weren't interested
anyway as I said I'm done with this forum for awhile cyas (not because of anything anyone in this thread said)

something happening in rl and it's affecting my mood a lot so probably best I stay away for awhile

Chill out lol. We now know the bike is two years old and has had a moderately hard life.

It wasn't incorrectly assembled as it's worked for nearly two years, I'd argue the fault wasn't there at the time of manufacture as it works for two years and it probably states in the hand book to check over the bolts after X amount of riding time etc.

The chap at Halfords was maybe rude or unhelpful but he could have just been honest and said he didn't know and could ask someone who did know at head office.

Right folks, need to bleed my Hayes Stroker Ryde front brake. I've got a couple of syringes and some clear plastic tubing here that I use to reverse bleed my superbike clutch and brakes but the procedure for doing the Hayes is confusing me a little. Could someone post the steps to take when using syringes rather than the Hayes bleed kit?. I haven't got the plastic adaptor that you screw into the master cylinder but a friend suggested the end of a plastic propelling pencil would work ok?.

So let me try and get this straight, am I right in thinking you follow the steps below? :-

Position bike/turn bars so the master cylinder you are working on is uppermost.

1. Fill 1x syringe with DOT4 fluid, hold upright (pointy end down) to evacuate air bubbles. Affix clear tubing from this syringe onto caliper bleed bolt/nipple.

2. Remove bleed screw from master cylinder. Fit adaptor or something similar to hole. Attach plastic tubing to this and attach tubing to a second syringe.

3. Crack caliper bleed bolt/nipple a 1/4 turn. Slowly push fluid through with syringe from that end. Watch for fluid coming out of master cylinder and into other syringe.

4. When nothing but fluid and no more air bubbles are coming out of the master cylinder screw, stop pusing fluid through and then tighten caliper bleed bolt/nipple. Replace master cylinder screw and tighten.

Somewhere between stage 3. and 4. I see folk saying to operate the brake lever back and forth, is that right?. And I've also seen some folk say the tubing at the master cylinder end should not be submerged in brake fluid, that right too?.

Great pic that, with I had the stones for large features like that.

Aye, I did the first drop on air voltage, which is still pretty big. Then I was a wee girl about doing the second and third. Totally regret it now. But there's always next year.

For me it's a payoff vs cost calculation.

Payoff doing it vs coming off and screwing your holiday, coming back to the UK not being able to work, being the sole earner with 2 kids.

It makes walking away from larger features the better choice, even if i know I'm able to.

Going back to early morning rides and clothing...

I plan to ride back from work tomorrow morning at 0200, weather says it will be around 14 so i only have bibs ad ss jersey! I assumed it would still be warm and muggy but it was pretty cool this morning at 0620 when i left for work in the car!

May dig out the arm/leg warmers!

Got back yesterday from a long camping/riding weekend at one of the best trail centres in North America, fly to Colorado to hit 3 or 4 different downhill resorts for a week on Saturday \o/

6th - Much if anything around New York?? Particularly around Rye, Harrison, White Plains area for trail centres/resorts??

Will be over in October staying with family in that area

Dozens of ride areas within an hour of New York. But you don't really get XC trail centres over here, not like the organized ride areas in the UK. Kingdom Trails that I visited up in Vermont this past weekend is an exception.

What you get is certain state/county/town parks have legal trails built in them. Westchester County has Sprain Ridge near Hastings on Hudson, Graham Hills near Pleasantville, Blue Mountain near Peekskill.
