Well, I increased my budget somewhat, and tomorrow I am going to view and probably buy a Specialized Camber Comp 2012 :D It looks to be in mint condition, and I am super excited by the thought of my first FS bike;

Also yesterday I bought a Specialized Myka HT Disc for my wife in really good condition;

These should hopefully be a good start to get us out on the trails.

Wow! I'm pretty jealous. Found your other thread and saw the pictures, etc. Looks like an amazing place to live.

There's a lot of cross-country ski stuff just over the hill at Glenmore, it's not far away at all, so it shouldnt be too difficult to find a route over there straight from your doorstep.

There's an Osprey centre just across the road from you at Loch Garten. It's pretty secure and they wont let you get very close to the nest. It's great to see them through the binoculars but probably not the best place for photos. You should be able to get some photos of them fishing in the loch if your patient enough. (I dont know what time of year they are at the nest and fishing though.)

Broadband will be pretty poor. We support a client nearby who is roughly the same distance from the exchange as you (not on the exact same line though - different direction). They have a 512 line....shared between a whole office. BT say that they have no interest in upgrading that section of line and the only option for a faster connection is for the company to pay for a leased line to be installed. It's painfully slow. Probably manageable for a single home user though.

Yeah, pretty excited to be moving!

The place I am going to be working for actually has connections with Glenmore Lodge, so that is going to be great for the skiing! Some of the staff development will also involve heading out onto the plateau and trying out new gear etc.

Yeah, I've been to the Osprey centre before. As you say, the nest is super far away. I know of a number of other nests though, and the best place to photograph them is actually at the Rothiemurchus Fishery, just outside Aviemore. What I am hoping for is to get Crested **** and Pine Martins in the garden. I am planning on making a hide with some old logs and branches etc infront and cover them in food every day.

Broadband speed is definitely the one downside to the new place. I am hoping for 1-2Mbps, but if we get anything at all I'll be relieved. Did look into satellite connections, but people say they are very unreliable and not worth it. I'm spending these last few weeks on a decent connection downloading several years worth of films and tv series, lol.

:)

Anyone got a superstar plasma chain device?

I like the other stuff i ordered from those guys but the reviews about poor fitment is putting me off.

my other option is the e.thirteen TRS+ Single Ring Chainguard but its £36 more expensive.

any opinions?

Considered a Raceface narrow-wide ring + clutch mech combo?

Tried my very best last weekend to make the chain drop riding my mate's trail bike fitted with the above mentioned combo, on a DH track...and couldn't manage.

Had not considered no.

Already have a Zee clutch rear mech.

I did just get a hope chain-ring as i had a credit note in the LBS to use up. If that will save me buying a chain device then guess it would be worth it.

totally worth it - I have a superstar chain device - lasted 10 mins before I put it back in the garage when I got the raceface narrow/wide ring - it really is genius and best thing I've come across in ages.

I have a plasma chain device and have had it fitted for around a year with not a single problem. It is a little noisey when in the biggest 2 on the cassette (34t cassette 10 speed). I run a 34t chainring upfront no problems. Here it is when I first fitted it:

Got my bars and stem today, also a seal kit for my RP2:

Wow Glentress is an awesome place. Spooky Wood and the following descents are great fun.

Sessioned Berm Baby Berm a few times too, lovely piece of trail.

Those ladder drops on the freeride park are a bit different in the flesh, crikey!

Innerleithen today :)

Guys,

If I had to buy some slx brakes what else do I need to fit them? Currently got juicy 3s with 203rotors. Do I need a specific adapter plate? Current one has lost some washers too is there a kit I can buy if I don't need one?

Also best place for the race face ring? Can't see it on bike discount.

Went up BPW again today.. Was a solo ride so didn't go too mad.. One thing its made me realise is that I dislike air forks and need some new ones! Anyone up for a BPW meet?

New bars and stem fitted. Also changed the seals on my rear shock, its so easy I cant believe it.

Before Easton EA70 Monkey bar 685mm 20mm Rise, Syntace 75mm Stem 10mm Rise

After Easton Havoc 750mm 20mm Rise bar Havoc stem 50mm no rise

I got some near identical forks in the garage and I would challenge you to tell me which are coil and which are air.
Perhaps your air forks don't feel good, but its not air that's the issue.

Bike's looking good Juggy!
