that is the most cost affective option, just that the cost is going on for half (or more) of a DBi

Look at it this way, if you bought a DB you'd be spending twice as much on something that that's adding a lot if weight to your bike that you only benefit from 5% (if that) of the time. If you are regularly riding very rough proper terrain then go for it, however if you were I think you'd also want a bike with more than 120mm of travel.

long term i am looking at a longer travel frame but unfortunately due to budget that wont be until at least end of next season. unless i get a payrise before then :D

Push the RP2. I had my RP23 Pushed a couple of years ago (Blur XCc, 105mm). It now has a bit more mid stroke support and it is hard to bottom it out...something it would do on big (for an xc bike) drops.

okay i think PUSHing may be the way to go then.

any opinions on the kashima and/or high volume can options TFT do?

Definitely go with the cheapest option then. If you plan to change the bike to a longer travel bike, then one can assume that whatever shock you buy now, won't fit the new frame.

The Shakira coating won't do anything, just look bling.

furry muff. the trek takes a 190x50, dont know how common that is?

If you're looking to sell in the very near future then I wouldnt even get it PUSHed. Just get it serviced and tune it yourself with volume spacers. Once PUSHed it will be custom tuned to your weight and riding style, which might put off buyers and wouldnt be easily reversible without being re-PUSHed which would also mean another service. (£140)

AM bikes (Endurobropro bikes), tend to hover at around 57mm+ neil, so I'd certainly say it would be throwaway money.

This is true, but the "riding style" bit, is somewhat of a misnomer. It generally just means that they will tune the progression for you, which is exactly you'll be doing by adding volume spacers.

thanks for all the thoughts guys.

i think i'll get the RP2 PUSHed, I should be riding it for at least another year after that so should see some benefit.

Yes, but at least the volume spacers can be removed without a service, unlike the shims they use during a PUSH service.

I hope it has a reverse gear for 3-point turns? Looks like it has about 30degrees of motion for that front wheel

Interesting concept ... Cant find much online about it (stealth searching at work).
Wonder if it will end up like recumbent bikes though...? Small following, bit of a niche?

To be fair, it's an engineering student's project. Not a production bike.
Probably just a proof-of-concept type thing and never actually intended to be ridden.
