I personally disagree about dropped bars. I tried them and couldn't get along with the bike at all.

Tyre questions.

I have a 29er hardtail for my commute but as part of my fitness regime to ensure im faster than my mates at BPW i am cycling home via the local XC trails.

I need a tyre that rolls well on tarmac and is decent wearing hard compound that wont be gone after a week on tarmac.

I also need it to be OK on some XC trails mainly dirt and gravel.

I killed a nobby nic on tarmac on my bandit canny remember what compound it was though.

Any suggestions.

I wasn't sure where to post this and I hoped I'd get some responses in here before I created a new thread.

I use a fairly cheap single speed bike for commuting to university in London. It's developed a problem whereby the chain keeps hopping off the rear sprocket and as a result of various diagnoses I've narrowed it down to the chainset/spider assenbly being bent and in need of replacing. I've not got a clue where to begin with my search though. Is there a particular online store that I should be using? Which brands should I be avoiding? Can I expect to get a replacement chainset (including spider) for ~£20-30?

Thanks :)

Spank Oozy's are a great choice, fantastic wheels

I have also had Zero issues with my set of Mavic Crosslines. They have been bombproof for me. Six runs down the Ft William DH with no issues, along with lots of Trail centre thrashing

Where's a good place to buy a service kit or seals for a RockShox Monarch RL rear shock?

Tftuned?

You wont beat superstar wheels for the money. You can get a set of all mountain wheels for around £150 built

I'm still really happy with my superstar builds. Flows on their switch evo hubs.

Haven't needed truing or hub maintenance. Just gone tubeless on the flows and (once the rear HD seated..) have retained pressure perfectly.

Superstar are the worst built wheels I've come across, had to rebuild the wheel i got from them before I even rode on it becuase I didn't think it would have lasted one ride.

Should have returned it really but couldn't be bothered with the hassle.

rebuild is a little drastic. worst I heard of was loose spokes (seems during high demand periods, i.e. offers, QC was a little hit and miss).

even with a £15~ tweek at the LBS they're still pretty good value during their offers.

The new commuter the bandit can return to pure trail use. It came with no air in the shocks they aren't 80mm or anything daft like that.

Brakes are shocking XT ordered.

What is this SRAM shifter witchcraft????

Thumb to shift up and down! Not sure if I like this. I have never used a SRAM shifter before.

Argh been out for a blast these SRAM shifters doing my head in.

I have a spare XT front and rear mech and a front shifter just need a rear shifter and i can switch it over.

should work with sram cassette, chain and crankset right?

I quite like the sram thumb for up and down. I use my shimano in the same way but sometimes use my finger too.

Have them at an ergonomic angle and they should feel the business.

Chain and cassette are fine to run with shimano just the shifters and rear mech that would need changed.

So im gonna order the AMX wheelset then, next question. Chain device. I smashed and bent my E13 double chain device. Anyone got another suggestion?
