Decent video, I see me in the background at 0:16. Our chalet was well represented, 4 guys in the comp, 2 in the final 15 and 1 in the final 5.

Day off work tomorrow, heading to Windham to watch the World Cup racing for the weekend 
is it just me that fails to see the point of whips?

Picked up my Cube from the LBS after my disastrous attempt at brake bleeding. Brakes are now absolutely spot on and they adjusted my poploc which hasn't been releasing fully for ages - no extra charge. They've just gained a returning customer. 
Planning on a gentle ride along my local canal path in an hour or so, first time back in the saddle since March so taking it easy.

.. Apart from being fun, looks good and you can scrub speed without braking, not much point no.

Because they're racing and trying to go as fast as possible?
Squashing jumps are more effective.
I do find it kinda weird that you say whips are "pointless" - mountain biking and even life is pointless in some existential way
They're one of the most stylish things someone can do on a bike in the air. It's pretty difficult to make a whip look good, and the difference between a good whip and a bad whip is massive.
Plus they're awesome fun.

i didnt say pointless to be fair, just that i didnt see the point
just seems its the latest fad and everyone has to whip literally everywhere
that said, i dont like the shaun either. maybe im odd
While doing bigger jumps, it's also easier to control the jump by "doing something" in the air. Going straight over / dead sailor is in fact quite difficult and risky.
Might as well whip it out and look good while flying

Must admit I enjoy my (slightly feeble) whips!
One thing I've been trying to do lately is to actually 'use' them on the trails, i.e. there are a few places where you can jump off a lip and flick the back end out into a whip, and land in a much better position to keep your flow than if you'd just 'straigh jumped'.
Granted, these are few and far between but it feels superb when you nail one spot on!
