I've got a question on a similar subject, with the chain rings on the front (pedals), is it possible to remove the smallest and fit a larger on the outside, so the existing largest becomes the middle cog? or would you have to buy a whole new set?

Reason I ask is that I find I'm on the biggest cog 100% of the time, and the smallest one is completely redundant as its too low a ratio to be practical for my use.
I figure by loosing the smallest, and fitting a larger largest cog, I could stay on the middle cog mostly, which is currently my largest to reduce cross chaining and have a mental high gear for downhill on the flat.

no. you cant add any more rings to the outside.

you could just increase the size of the existing cogs however.

That's kinda what I meant, I'm not very good at explaining this... basically loose the smallest altogether, put the middle one where the small one was so the large one would take the place of the middle, and then put a bigger one again where the current biggest one is, so basically I'd only have to buy one new cog,is that possible?

Are you doing all of your riding on the road?
You'd be better with a road bike.

No, mainly tow path, field, gravel, cobble stone etc, but would be good to have a bigger cog on the crank for occasional road rather than the smallest on there now, which I don't think I've ever even used!

That's fast!

What size is your biggest sprocket? Usually they'll be around 42 tooth, which gives somewhere around 30mph cruising speed.

As neil said, the smallest ring is a different fitting from the other 2, so you cant move the others to there. You could probably replace the big sprocket with a larger one. You might be better to get a whole new crank from a road or cx bike if you need bigger gears.

ok my google fu is sucking balls right now and Im stumped,

trying to find the right sized inner tube for my bike

the tyre says 47-622, 700x45c, 28 x 1 5/8 x 1 3/4

most sites im looking at only have one number after the wheel size such as 28 x 1 5/8.

mine say 28 x 1 5/8 x 1 3/4.

which one do I use? sorry for the probably totally noob question but im stumped lol and dont want to buy the wrong ones

thanks in advance

use the 700 x 45c - nothing else required.

Is it some kind of hybrid bike?
