best race of the year

love the open flat corners for foot out drifts - like old school grundigs
without a doubt, but then its been one of the best seasons i can remember full stop, an absolute classic! as Supercow said, fairytale ending!:)
The year of the rat will go down in history! the world champs would just put the icing on the cake.

Copying this over from the road thread, as its not really a road request...

Looks like my winter bike needs a new frame. Bloody crack in the carbon, right where the seatpost joins the top tube.

Any suggestions? - Currently its a GT Zaskar 26er MTB so something that I can fit those components on would be nice!

Go me....!!

Removed my fork lowers on my Dart 3's yesterday to clean and change the oil. Never been touched in 4 years. They were rather mucky inside and the oil was disgusting looking too. Cleaned out, fresh 15wt oil in both lowers (some places online suggest the coil side doesn't need it and some say it does it good to have it so I went with the second option and chucked 15ml in both lowers). Regreased everything and reassembled and it has made a world of difference to the performance (okay so its a Dart 3 but it is what came on the bike  ).

Was surprised how easy it was to do as well, usually things go awry for me when I'm fiddling with bikes but this went perfectly fine from start to finish. Took about 40 mins all in. Now planning on doing a full fork service next time as it can't be that difficult. Gulp!

Slightly annoying though - My Hayes Stroker Ryde front brake lever isn't returning to its normal position after you squeeze the lever. You have to sort of 'flick' it back out with the back of your fingers. Brakes are fine and were bled a week ago, plenty of bite. I have read that there is a fairly simple fix for this involving the rod which goes into the master cylinder and greasing it. But I can't find any idiot proof instructions for exactly how to do it.

Anyone assist? Keep reading folk saying 'Yeah, it was a well known problem and it is a simple fix to regrease it' but no one really elaborates on how?

New DH track on Cairngorm mountain for the "Ultimate thrill". So gnarly they make you do a skills course first. Some big gap jumps.

I wish i read the comments below before i watched the video...

they are missing a big opportunity they should have a proper track up there.

They can't. Its a national park and there are very strict rules on what they are allows to do. They'd never be allowed to build a dh track. There used to be rules to stop people walking to the top (is about 5k to the top from the top train station) if they got the train up. You could walk to the top from the car park but if you got on the train you weren't allowed to leave the building at the top. I'm not sure if this is still the car tho.

Yeah i figured as much, i remeber going up there before the funicular railway was built, on the the old chairlift and walking to the top with my gramps, didnt realise things had gotten so strict up there, its sad, nature is there to be enjoyed not shielded.

I've absolutely no experience with them, i love the design, but thats a serious wedge of cash for that though:eek: no thanks, i'll just continue chucking the bikes in the back of the car:p

I agree :( It's much cheaper in the US! All bike carrying systems are stupidly expensive. The Thule roof bars + bike racks also costs £350, but at least I can use the Sea Sucker with any car.

I really can't put a muddy bike in the back of my car, and I will also need to carry two bikes occasionally.
