All your mates bikes are all-mountain or hardcore xc. (They all have air shocks which often have shorter travel then springs and are used because they are lighter)
The KHS XCT 555 would be similar to the bikes they are riding. It's got 140mm travel all round and is marketed as an "extreme xc" bike.

You dont want to be getting a full-on DH bike unless you are riding DH. Any flat bits or climbs and your mates are going to drop you pretty quick on the bikes they are riding.

Ok point taken, I don't need a DH bike then.

I'm awaiting KHS coming back to me on the pricing of the 555 at I might not be able to get it if they don't do topping up.

I may look at the XCT 535 Same frame 10mm less rear travel and RS tora air fork but its only £799 and its does with out the Marzocchi 44 QR15 which I've not heard anything good about.

Today's the bristol bike jumble for anyone in the area. Outside mud dock, kicking off at midday - it's free to sell your stuff and there's usually loads of bargains to be had

Just did my first 10 mile time trial.
Hard going but good fun. Did a 25:19
I think another bike is needed now. This is going to be an expensive hobby.
TT bikes are beautiful things tho (in fact, i think i may like the look of them more than dh bikes ).

that its a very good effort for your first time trial!

Eeek! Just realised that the Fred Whitton challenge is next weekend
Is anybody else doing it?
Im getting a bit worried now, having heard a few stories of guys (who are usually stronger climbers than me) having to get off and push.

Different question, does anyone else's legs turn to jelly after a long ride or a ride with pace and quite hilly and rough trails, i.e you go to pedal and yor legs just fail to respond, if so how on earth can i prevent that.

I didn't get my entry this year so ill be stuck watching! Hardknott is the killer right at the end after about 100 miles ;)

Without meaning to sound blunt; it sounds like you just need to eat more. Get those sugar levels up!

Yep, i agree.
Need to be eating more.
Load up on carbs before a big ride with good meal the night before (pasta/rice etc) and a good breakfast in the morning (porrige is good).
You also need to keep eating when your cycling. Bananas, cereal bars, biscuits etc are good and easy to carry. Dont wait until you're hungry - keep on eating.

Anyone got any idea what a pair of 08 Hope Mono M4's with floating rotors and mounting hardware are worth? Some slight marking on the levers. Plenty of life left in the pads. 1 spare set of pads. Work perfectly.

I'd be lucky if I could do 1 lap without stopping. Fitness level has dropped sharply over the last few months with not cycling to work (50miles round trip now) amd need to get it back.

What was it like there today? I was going to go with a work mate but got let down as they didn't fancy it after all the rain we had yesterday. Should probably have gone on my own really.

I wonder if you guys can give me rough price to sell a Kona Blast in green, 2008 model iirc 20" frame. Did a blind deal with a mate buts its miles to big for me as i have a tiny inside leg ("25"). I tried a Kona Shred 13" today and that felt perfect.
