Anyone who fancys doing an uplift day definately goto Forrest of Dean. Went there today, although the tracks are not long they are really really fun to ride. Loads of tracks there too. Uplift is fast and doesnt ruin your bike. Anyone up for an uplift day there? OCUK meet?

I'd be interested in that, 3hours drive though :o

Can someone inform me of what I'll need to convert my rear V-Brake to a hydraulic rim brake?

http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?product_id=10934&category_id=74

If I understand it right, I need that adaptor to sit on-top of the v-brake posts, then something like this;

Bike is an Onza Bird 2010 by the way.

Thanks :)

yea that looks like its what you need

seeing that its made me realise i havent looked at rim brakes for a long long time, back in t day maguras used to mount straight on v mounts iirc

Did a nice long 50 miler over the weekend with some serious climbing (for me) of 1663 feet - some evil inclines around the Surrey hills :(

Was fine and dandy - managed to keep well fuelled and hydrated but cramped up in one calve as I turned into my road right at the end.

I'm guessing its lack of salts causing it so can anyone recomend a good sports drink to help? was using the Lucozade sport lite thing in one bottle and water in the other...

Myself and a lot of the people I ride with use Torq Energy Powder It tastes nice and is all natural ingredients.

Anyone have experience with the Genesis Core range? Been thinking of getting one recently to replace my GT Aggressor XC3. I'd probably be getting the Core 10 as well if any as that's in my price range.

Well spent more money last night.....

Decided I have to give clipping in a try, bought some Crank Bros candy c for a bargain
of £19.00.

Now i just need to find some suitable shoes (read cheap)

Genesis do make nice bikes both in performance and looks there a little expensive compared to other brands but your supporting a UK based company.
Not been on the trails on one but have tried one out in store it was one of the cores was comfy and light. If I was after a HT id be really considering one of these although I preferred the look of the Altitudes to the Cores as they used a steel frame.

Sheared a bolt in my stem face plate this morning. Can anyone recommend a decent torque wrench without me spending £100+ on the Park Tools one?

Ive been on the look out for a decent cheapish torque wrench as well.
Most of them are silly money.
This one looks ok, 2-24Nm range.

My bike fixing skills are getting better, plus enjoying messing with the recumbent, takes my mind of the pain and other crap going on, "behavioural activation" is the technical term, or in reality, its vitally important tinkering.

So I went for my first ride after my operation on the arm. It held up very well.
I took the little bike to my local DH spot with the intention of doing th XC loop - but I'm so unfit I was blowing out my @sshole.

I decided to do the easy DH runs in stead - so ended up on the little bike, with a p!sspot on going slow down the DH runs 5 weeks after having a plate fitted :D

Look fine but as with any shoes, it would be more sensible to try some on or at least some other Diadora's so you know the fit is ok.

Got a package this morning! Not sure if I'm keeping it though.

Pics with other bits I've been collecting for the build...

Oooo a carbon 456 :D

Indeed, really struggling with whether or not to keep it and build it up as a pretty light hardcore hardtail or there's a blur lt1 local to me that looks like it will go for a similar price. Having not had a full susser since a giant ac2 I think it might be a big step up and hardly any weight penalty over my steel 456.

AAARRRGGG what to do?!?!

Just a quick/noob question here.

I bought a Univega Hardtail off a mate of mine, its in immaculate condition but one thing is bugging me.

There is a bit of play in the neck/stem?, and because the bike has stood doing nothing for 8+ years i cannot slacken/tighten the neck up to sort it out.

Any tips or is it a trip to the LBS and leave it for them to sort out?

what sort of headset is it?

probably best bet is to get some penetrating oil (or WD40 at a push) and soak the bolts overnight.

Using a decent length allen key (or wrench with allen key adaptor) you should be able to loosen the stem up bolts, tighten down the headset and clamp the stem back up again.

Edit: after that time I'd say get it looked over by the LBS anyhow, it might look perfect but probably needs a good maintenance session

... or do you mean stem?

Does your stem/handlebar wiggle around in it?

ps: wait before you stick WD40 anywhere, find out what the problem is first.

If you already have a 456 is there any need for a carbon one other than for the bling factor? My money would be going on the blur!

great...... just found some problems when I went out for a 10 mile!!!

1. I believe I have warped the front disc break, here's a youtube

if it's not working heres the link

2. Whenever I brake hard, i.e. pull the brake levers as far back as possible the brakes make a very loud jamming kind of sound which doesn't sound good :/ I believe this to be related partially to the front disc, however the back disc also makes the noise]

3. whenever I pedal the pedals make a squeaking noise, and yeh I'm not pedaling there is none.

here are a few pictures, its a Specialized P1 All Mountain 2009, since I think I will need a new disc, are there any other suggestions to improve the bike??

I mean exactly that, there is a little bit of play in that.

Its been about 16 years since i have done any maintenance on a bike other than changing an innertube, but i am quite hands on and like to do things myself if i can.

Nothing seems to be rusted on the bike at all, i can remove the allen bolt that goes down the centre of the neck but nothing moves at all?
