Very few in the UK, it seems. I bought the bare frameset from someone that had imported it and built her from there. What did you decide on?

I love Orbea bikes. Look very classy and not many of them out there :) Nice bike! Bet you're chuffed.

Bought a bike about a month or so now. Managed to pick up one of these:

And whilst not being a big name it seems to be a pretty a decent spec from what I've been reading. Picked it up second hand for £210 so thought it was a decent buy, I'm very much a beginner and I'm sure it's more than caplable for my current needs! Took it up to Ullswater for the weekend which was good and been using it to commute (2.5miles each way). Planning a trip up to Grizdale Forrect early July too. Loving it. :)

Just a bit of advice please. I keep it on my balcony (9th floor so safe!) so it's pretty sheltered but does get a bit wet so I'm going to buy a cover for it just to make sure. Is there any guides on what general maintence I should be doing on it, lubing etc? With it being second hand I took it to my LBS and they gave it a good going over and adjusted the brakes and gears so it's running sweet as a nut but I'd like to keep it that way. :)

Thanks

Question:

Providing I can find the correct tools (i.e. buy them), and work out exactly what fitment my cranks are, is fitting a new bottom bracket easy?

I'm mechanically savvy BTW, just wondering if it's as simple as it seems?

My current BB is utterly, utterly knackered and somewhat wobbly. :o

Probably the easiest thing to do with the correct tools, just make sure you dont cross thread anything and make sure you get spacing correct if using an external bearing type, and put some copper slip on the threads as you reinstall it into the frame and your good to go.

Cool. I'll see if I can get hold of the necessary bits to remove the current one, and order up a replacement ASAP.

Glad it's easy/straightforward. I have an irrational fear of bike mechanics due to the fact I bodged together a BMX out of about 4 knackered bikes when I was about 12. It ended very badly! Hopefully doing this will help a bit!

All you need to do is keep it clean and lubed. GT85 for gear cables/shifters. Degrease the chain and use chain oil to keep it running smooth. Keep the stanchions of the forks clean. You can use chain oil on the seals to keep them running smooth for longer.

Hi guys I've started to actually get some use out of my bike and I'm cycling to work now. I bought a GT Avalanche 3.0 last year and I'm starting to look at upgrading some parts.

As a bit of a novice can you guys look at the spec and maybe suggest some areas I can start improving. The crankset and pedals seem to be the weakest section based on my expert eye :P (it's all plastic)

Sorry to hear about your plastic eye Hencore. For upgrades I would look at the pedals for sure. Welgo MG1's are a decent budget pedal. I wouldn't replace any of the drivetrain until it starts wearing out. Everything could be upgraded but you will see the most benefit from the wheels. Less rolling mass for the one good leg you have to get spinning.

Dont discount them, some people prefer the steel frames to the Ally ones, i think it all depends on what you wanna do with it.

steel is awesome ! and so are on-one

its cheap because its one of the last ones left from the end of the range and because on-one dont rip people off as much as they could get away with

LOL I was trying to imply that the bits were plastic but If I had a plastic eye I thank you for your sympathy.

Those pedals look good, thanks for that.

Will grab some no stock photos soon.

Thinking of buying a new frame to replace my current Rockhopper pro 2009 one.

Looking at the On-One website at the moment, are they cheap for a reason?

http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FROOIN/on-one-inbred-frame

I quite fancy a white frame.

I was also looking at On-One bikes, the frames are great value, it is just when you spec a full bike they seem to be more expensive than an off the peg bike.
If you have all the other components I would say go with On-One, they get great reviews.
I have just ordered a 2011 Gary Fisher Cobia and I intend to fit an On-One Carbon fork 29er.

that On-one Inbred looks great, reckon i'd build one up with an On-one rigid carbon fork, Merlin handmade wheels prolly XT hubs on XM719 rims, SLX drive and brakes with a raceface finnishing kit, would be well smart and fast and come in under £1k maybe :)
