I put a scoop of stans in my Deemax wheels (near enough the same as the 823 rim) just so I've got some in there if something pierces the tyre. You don't need sealant to seal true UST tyres and rims though.

Ive just got some stans today + the valve's for my 823's

It says on the strans not to inflate more than 40 psi  Is that correct seems a little low - or is that the norm for running tubeless?

thanks

Your On-One arrived yet? Want me to pop down to Doncaster and give them a slap? :D

due to be completed tomorrow i hope and shipped to me for thursday. I hope it is on time as I'm away all next week!

Customer service has been a bit lax if i'm honest - fairly poor in terms of updating things but when you speak to someone on the phone it seems better.

For instance - they couldn't tell me whether i would or would not get a shock pump with the new build as they could be retail packaged forks they use or could be OEM forks which won't come with a shock pump!

Anyway - need to order some bike tape and a couple of other "pimp" items for the red/black theme i'm going for!

It is now rideable :D

Will take it to Stainburn this sunday for a proper test but took it out back and across some fields small bump performance = Pass.

Correct. The sealant can go straight through the tyres if you inflate them too much.

I run my tubeless tyres at around 30psi, although I have got away with less than 10psi in the past.

I used to run my old tires at 50psi, now at 30 with tubeless tires it seems about the same pressure (solid!).
I'm not sure if the elasticity of tubes artificially raises the pressure or if I'm just over thinking things.

40 should be fine though.

I got some stans, 25mm rim tape and valve stems in post today, going to try and run my flows tubeless, expecting mixed results with my tires (non tubleless) and nevegals are known to have thin sidewalls, but the bead seals like a biatch (nev + flow combo) so should minimise burpage....

I run my non-tubeless single ply 2.35 Highrollers at 25 PSI tubeless. Fell really good and offer more grip than when I ran them with tubes.

I couldn't get one seated with track pump for ages. I got my mate to hold the wheel and shake it back and forward while I hammered the track pump, and it seated easily. Have done about 300 miles of rough North Wales singletrack and a trip down the Snowdon Rangers path last week with no issues.

Follow the instructions on the Stans website:
http://www.notubes.com/detailed_kit_instruction.aspx

My normal method is to mount the tyre with a tube inside.
Break the bead on one side to remove the tube.
Re-seat that side of the tyre onto the rim.
Use a tyre lever to work about half of the loose side into the rim edge, making sure it's seated near the valve.
Inflate with floor pump, check it's seated all the way around.
Inject stans through removeable valve core.
Do the shake routine from the stans video.

jesus christ fork prices are insane this year

fox f120 is £515 and doesnt even have the gold coating or the FIT dampner for that price :(

need a 120 or 140 mm fork for my marin mount vision, QR and 11/8th steerer

cant seem to find any bargains only a pair of revelations for £320 which I worry may be too long for the marin (120mm rear travel)

bah!

Can anyone recommend me a half decent steel 29er frame with braze-ons for mounting a rack? I'm thinking about the On-One Inbred 29er.

Best thing i got was some heavy duty tyre levers, made fitting tubeless so easy. Gone back to tubes now though, not enough or a bonus with tubeless for me.
