You first need to make sure your disc isnt bent anywhere then loosen both mounting bolts and pull the brake firmly and tighten the bolts back up while still holding the brake.

Im guessing thats how there adjusted anyway some calipers use shims to setup the caliper.

You've circled that clip around the bolt, is it just pressed on? If that's what was rubbing can it be removed from the bolt?

I've never seen a clip on a brake bolt like that...

Hi

its not the clip thats touching it, its the bit that clip is attached to

the clip was on there when i picked the bike up :)

Ignore the plastic clip, that can be removed if you want. I think it stops the bolt from undoing itself.

The bolt you circled is one of the two caliper mounting bolts.
Undo both of them, hold the brake lever down to center the caliper and re-tighten them evenly.

Should stop the rubbing, although it may still touch on the pads slightly.

ok, i did that, i loosened those 2 bolts, squeezed the brake lever tight, did the bolts up and its no longer scrapping the disc!, all i have now is one of the brake pads touching the disc slightly

Made a big oopsy with my brakes not quite sure how though.

Was changing the pads on the front and the piece of the caliper that presses against the pads came loose, bringing with it a lot of brake fluid, so now i dont have a front brake :(

Anyone any idea how much a bleed will cost at LBS?

Around £10-£20 depending on the brake and how friendly you are with the store.

Went for a quick blast round the local woods this evening. Mainly to check my brakes were alright after a bleed last night. Took a couple of pics :)

Only a mile or 2 of woods surrounding a golf course but there's some tricky stuff in there and good for a quick blast and a bit of practice. God knows I need it.

Moss covered rocks. Hmmm, I'm not suicidal! :p That bank is very steep and hard enough to maintain control going around the rocks let alone over them.

Ok couple of questions for you guys. first is, how do I work out if my fork dropouts or my fork is slightly twisted, and secondly I need a new wheel set, strong and cheap, so any deals and whatever, current wheels are crappy 08 mavic crossrides.

I have a pro3 xc6 bolt front wheel with a mavic 719 for sale. Strong MTB but very light.

Brand spanking new straight from Hope - well fully rebuilt and replaced. car drove over the oringinal... oh the joys.
