My spare room kinda looks like a bike shop, kit all over the place. Lol.

Just had an email flyer from Magicshine. They are doing their MJ808 900 lumen light for £40 off at £79 instead of £119 :-

Anyone used these lights?. I currently use an Ultrafire C8 LED torch and its superb but was considering buying a bespoke setup at some point. This looks quite a good deal.

Ok so my new forks are getting fitted tomorrow and just looked through the manual and i swear it is USELESS.

I have 2 random round disks about the size of a 20p but 1cm deep.

Anyone have any idea what these are for

Cheers

Andy

(forks are RS Recon SL)

spacers of some sort, not sure really, but sounds like spacers for adjusting something lol

£40 ish notes on DX SKU25149 ;)

Why would you need to do that? Are you thinking of something a little different?
There are plenty of good lights to buy off-the-shelf.
I have one of the 900 lumen torches from DX. It's great, i use it as a floodlight on my handlebar with a little 200 lumen spotlight on my helmet. Great for riding in the woods at night.

touch - how have you mounted that on your bars?

Are the batteries a bugger to replace etc?
I got a bar mount (similar to sku.18889 but mine doesnt rotate.) Had no problems with the batteries yet. The back of the torch screws off and the battery slots inside. It looks like a normal AA battery but about twice as big. It only takes 1 battery at a time and last for quite a while. I got 4 batteries so i'v always got a few fully-charged spares in my bag.
If your thinking about one, you need to remember to get:
-Torch
-Batteries
-Bike mount
-Charger
-UK adaptor for charger

If there's a slot in the side of them they're spacers to reduce fork travel. No idea what travel a Recon has, but each of those if installed would reduce it by 10mm each.

Thanks torch will try and spec what i would need :)

6th - I thoguht they migh be spacers - but have no info as to how
to fit them etc. The forks were advertised at 100mm but have seen them at
80mm, 100mm and 120mm.

How are they installed?

Thanks

Andy

Thanks for the heads up Andy on that DX link. Nice one. ;)

To be honest my Ultrafire C8 is awesome on the bike at night, maybe too bright if anything although I always make sure it is angled properly so it isn't blinding oncoming traffic. The beam itself is perhaps a little too "focused", a bit more of a flood would be ideal but my god, is it bright!.

I mounted it using Twofish Lockblocks and a Minoura Spacegrip.

Here's the nomad with boxxers on

Got my new bike today. Looks rather tasty but have only just finished putting it together as I had to fetch it from City Link :/

No test ride till at least tomorrow, maybe longer because there is a slight buckle on front and back wheel. Front is worse and intermittently rubbing on brake pads. Going to email Wiggle tomorrow about that.

Some pics if anyone is interested here.

Poor pics as had to do them indoors as it was dark.

They do look a bit chunky I agree and I'm glad I didn't get the white ones!

However, they do look better in the flesh, the pic honestly doesn't do much for them. I'll stick with these for now and probably get something else in a few months when I've destroyed them, which I will :D

I've got those exact ones, they're awesome, but maybe SPD's on that bike though as has been said :)

It has disc not rim brakes, so it doesn't matter how buckled your wheel might be it won't effect braking. Do you mean the disc is rubbing on the pads in the caliper? Is it all the time or just on a certain part of the disc?

The calipers probably just need recentering.

Rear V2 fitted, these things look sweet! Now the waiting game over the front V2 :/

Prefer the Avid Matchmakers over the Hope ones though as you can adjust the angle between lever and shifter. Didn't actually try to see if the Avids fitted the Hope lever, will have to give it a look.
