WS: those MK 2.4s look tiny! I'm sure the ones I rode on a while ago were much more voluminous. Why've you gone for them rather than something like Rubber Queens or anything with more volume?

I missed my new handlebars getting delivered Saturday when the postman didn't even ring my bell, just put the slip in the mailbox. I wanted them for riding Sunday.

Get home today and there's another slip for my missing front brake. Ordered from the UK 26th April, I thought it was lost in volcano hell, but apparently it's been in sat in the post office for the last few weeks, I never got an original missed delivery slip. So I could have had matching brakes since the ski lifts opened two weeks ago.

Roll on next big bike day!

Same thing happened to me on Saturday with a set of handlebars. Was outside prepping my bike for Cannock and the missus was in the house. Didn't knock on the door and just left a card! Oh well, good job I'm not in a hurry for them.

They are the UST version and they do look smaller than the non UST which I have. I also have the Rubber Queens which are much heavier and not any good for XC. DH only. I'll have another look at them tomorrow.

Dont want to insult you, but are you bleeding them properly? Avids are quite tricky to bleed and have to be done properly

You've insulted me. :( :D. Nah...
Yup bleeding them properly with the Avid Kit. Not mixing fluids.
No idea what to do ! :(

PS: Royal Mail can be right dirty. Luckily my postie will take my post to my Mums school during term :)

when you guys are out on a trail do you carry a spare set of brakes pads?

Nope never carried pads, always make sure there is enough left in them for the ride. Only carry spares if I am going away for a few days.

I see your thinking but never done it myself. I always know how much life is in the pads. They don't weigh a lot I know but I have enough in my pack with 2/3L of fluid, small pump, spare tube, light, Mobile Phone (GPS) etc...
Check them during your bike pre-ride checks. If they're worn out, replace them.

Personally I wouldn't want to be changing my brake pads while out on a ride.

I go for hundred mile rides in the middle of no where and I've never carried spare pads. If you're doing regular maintenance at home you should be checking how much wear your current pads have.

Are you actually running tubeless Scott? Or are those tires just tubeless compatible?

If you are; how long do they stay sealed before they need re-setting up? I'm considering it now I've got these new rimz.

Update: Leaving the tyres inflated with an innertube overnight made seating the tyres much easier today. Even with a mini pump. I think that because the tyres are new there were small folds making it hard to seat them on the bead hook.

The inner tubes I had in were 520g  That's over a 1lb of rotating mass gone.

I'm carrying a pair at the moment, but only because the current ones are getting low, and riding in the dark peak, i don't want to get stuck having finished them off on a ride.
