Nice bike! If you don't mind me asking, what pedals are you using in this pic?

Sick wheels aren't they? :)

Yep, im super chuffed. Been after a set for ages and I was so jealous when you got yours lol! But landed a bargain, swapped my Hope Pro2/721 and £200 for a this pair which are my mate bought but never used? Going to try tubeless after france :D

The blue (9 miles) and the red (14 miles) trails both start from the visitor centre just do which ever you feel most up to.

Cheers :)

9 is probably a bit short. The black one used to be near the car park with a horrible climb right at the start, is it still the same?

Went to Gisburn Forest with Ichabod Crane today, took a few pics whilst resting, forgot to take a camera so used my phone (forgive the crap quality)!

After the first couple of red runs and a ride/push up a pretty lengthy ascent, no shade and surprisingly scorching! Also IC's bike looks much more custardy in the flesh I assure you :p

Looking back down a climb some time on, this is going towards the famous/infamous 'slab' which has a reputation as being uber steep but was actually a bit dissapointing (in scale)! Still fun though.

A shot down to a little stream crossing, this area was quite picturesque which doesn't quite come across here. This bit is just after the rollercoaster section (which is just as awesome as it looks) - no pics (far too busy riding it, twice!) but there's plenty around.

That's all I'm afraid :D Anyway it was a really good ride, we followed the full red route and branched off whenever there was a black route sign, so the only parts we didn't do were the blue runs I think, solid 3 hours riding more or less. Quite a lot of fireroad, but also some very good wooded section with nice attention to detail in the trail building, incorporating collapsed dry stone wall into the trail for example. There's also a lot of boardwalk/skinny sections including a bit just before the trail cross over (the whole red route is a figure of 8) which has just been completed.

All in all if you're nearby then it's definitely worth a trip, there could be more technical features such as drops and jumps, and more rock garden descents, it's definitely a place to check out if you like fast flowy trails and steady technical climbs. I think I enjoyed it a little more than Dalby, although I've only been there a couple of times.

How do you guys get on riding this kinda stuff on your AM bikes?

No problem really, places like Dalby/Lee Quarry/Gisburn seem to be perfectly rideable on short-medium travel hardtails, although you'd be pretty shaken up by the end :D

Usually about 3/4 into a ride I'll start wishing my bike was lighter but the speed you can carry through the rough stuff definitely makes up for it :) I'm so glad I bought my bike and not a cheaper hardtail like I originally planned.

Went for a ride with some guys from a local MTB club tonight. Managed to keep up fine with my 30lb 6" travel AM bike even woopin a few people on a climb. :D I cleared a tabletop jump that you have to carry speed from a loose bermed corner. Pretty happy about that.

What's the question?

Why are you riding AM bikes when there are no hills?

Got my singlespeed half on today. Waiting for my whip and cassette tool to put the back sprocket on but got it going with the tensioner and just using the 16t on the cassette for now and went for a bit of a spin.

I really like it, I've never really made the most of my gears (I think it's from all the time I spent on BMX bikes) and I hate the clattering. Seeing as where I do most of my riding doesn't really have any bad climbs, I reckon it'll stay like this quite a while. 32/16 seems pretty much spot on for where I ride.

Hopefully use it to get fit enough and get my legs strong enough that I can widen where I ride as well, but for now I just want to ride for fun and fitness and I think it'll help.

An acquaintance at my local riding spot, is working as some mentor or team lead at the Whistler Camp of Champions - got invited and is living there free as part of some competition he won.

Check ut the camper's bikes, these are camp bikes which you get to use if part of the COC

Here's his entry video, pretty funny stuff (especially if you have seen some of the vids he's poking fun at)

Very funny spoof video of his:

Sure it is. I have raced on my Nomad MK1 and my Heckler. I finished middle of the pack in one race and 6th in another.

Darn 12yo's are fast.
