Should be a good weekend for riding. Problem is everyone else will have the same idea so places like Carron Valley or Glentress will be heaving with folk :(

Which is why i do the bulk of my riding before most people wake up, im out usually before the sun rises. You do miss out on the sun though.

That is some odd logic, I would rather ride in the glorious weather with other people than in the early hours just to be alone. Is your riding that bad? ;)

You have bought a nice bike now to so you dont need to hide in the dark :p

Main reason for riding early is that any where decent gets too busy during the day, Rivington for example too many walkers getting in the way. If i go to a dedicated trail centre i go and enjoy the sun though.

Good to know :)

If you don't mind me asking, what headset and seatclamp did you go for?
Does the seatclamp have to be a 29.8 or will a 30 fit? I've been checking out the Hope components..

Seatclamp I went with one of their 29.8's, as im still unsure if a 30 will fit and clamp fully, and the headset is an Fsa orbit but I'm wanting a hope soon.

You have a Steel 456 Summer Season?
Hows it working out for you? :)

Steel 456 normal, i find it an absolute dream, really stable on any decents, plus its nicely setup for a little bit of XC riding if you can cope with the 150mm up front, going up hill sit forward and up she goes. my build is probably not the lightest but you can just chuck it around and it doesnt complain.

Bit of a crappy pic from the snow a few months ago, since then its got new wheels, new grips etc so looks different now.

Nice one :) Really nice build there, liking the E-Thirteen bash guard.

I'm planning ahead a little bit. I've ordered a headset and a seatpost of the correct size (I will be taking most bits from my Giant XTC) but I'm just wondering if there is anything else I need to look out for.
I have a Shimano Deore front mech, do you think the clamp will fit the thinner frame on the 456?
Also, does the revelation fork need a larger thru axel than my current Rock Shox Tora, as I'll be using the same wheels srom the Giant.

Nah the forks should be the QR version, unless they are putting the more expensive 15/20mm ones in with the bundle which i doubt, the Front mech, same make as mine will need some spacers if you XTC isnt 28.6, and top pull which most are dual pull, local LBS should have some spare spacers for you anyway, apart from that your good to go.

From one of the on one techs regarding the seat clamp size "Hi, we do not recommend using a 30.0 seatclamp on our 456. Even though the difference is only 0.2mm the seatpost can still slip which obviously could be dangerous."

Oh also, the 456 is Full outer gear cables, so you will need some more of those, and possibly inners depending on how long they are on the XTC. I think thats all i need to add.

Full outer gear cables on the XTC as well (same frame size, so shouldn't be a problem)
Also, front brake hose has plenty slack for the extra travel

Are the spacers for the front mech expensive?
