Ive just bought one of the of the ORC compound nobby nics from on-one (Thanks Booyaka) as thats the only ones in the 2.4 i can find in stock to try on the front , i ideally wanted UST's

Have you tried this compound weescott?

Think ill go for the racing ralph triple on the rear.

I haven't but *kona said he really liked them at Glentress. Just as well as I recommended them to him. :p
I wouldnt have thought you needed V2s, have a look at M4s or X2s.

V2's are scary powerful. Most people don't need them. But if you are going for a 203mm brake then might as well get the V2's over the M4 as they can work out lighter.

apologies for rubbish pics I was a little excited to get out and ride the thing!

I would be excited too. That is a stunning bling build.

Those Vault's look awesome. Nice choice of Headset too.

Looks amazing Andelusion! Got my LBS down on the price for a 2010 Covert frame only for the sale of my frame to fall through. 3 people pulled out of buying it so far.

Transition looks great!

And yes its the Cage kit I need. And yes there more expensive than the X9 im using.

Question is now, can I take the cage kit off the X9 and put on the X0? They both have the small clip thingy majig (see pic)

If you take the pin out then it all comes apart. still... not sure what to do.

Managed 10 miles between thunderstorms today, off chance of reaching 100 miles for the month this next week depending on how my riding goes. Have lost 5lb in the last 4 weeks of using my bike too which is good!

Scared the pants off myself with my Speed Kings on the front, went OTB after only a few miles when I slipped on some wet grass and went sideways into a small runoff gulley.

Just feels like the front end won't grip mid corner so don't want to commit too much or lean too much. Suprisingly if I go faster, this feeling goes away!

Now to choose between a Nobby Nic 2.25" Evo or a Fat Albert snakeskin 2.35" "front" compound. Ill just wear out my Speed Kings on the rear as straight line grip seems OK.

Only had a quick 1.5hr ride as my front wheel is SERIOUSLY in need of truing, however first impressions are excellent!! This thing is just ridiculously plush, I thought my Enduro with ti coil was plush, but on a really rocky fast descent at local trails (we're talking bricks, cobbles, stones all integrated/half sunk into the trail, it just floats over everything, the amount of speed I could carry was scary.

The forks feel extremely plush whilst still riding high in their travel, I've just set them to BOS recommended settings and added a little rebound, it's gonna be fun experimenting with settings.

1x10 rocks, the 36 x 30 combo gives a little more pedalability up the steep climbs around here (compared to the 1x9 rig on my hardtail) I reckon with some improved fitness it's going to be a winner. The drivetrain is absolutely silent, it really is quite a Covert little machine :D

Love it :D

Whats your opinion on the pedals, though I realise you haven't had much chance to try them properly.

I need some new ones, and I can't decide if the Vaults are worth the extra over Nanos, especially as I'm not 100% on the blue text on the white ones..

They're crazy grippy, with my 5.10s it actually feel like the pedal is attached to my foot, like it's being grabbed, huge platform which is pretty confidence inspiring when you riding through the rough stuff and want to put some power down.

Just did a quick 10mile blast to test out the racing ralphs. They are still in the "sketchy" category, they displace mud better than the Race Kings and I do notice the extra grip of the triple compound. Still silly quick too. Verdict: Winrarrr :D

As IC and weescott said, I bought some of the ORC compound NN's for the Glentress meet. I've not tried many tyres but coming from Specialized Eskars they are night and day, plenty of grip when cornering (which the Eskars were lacking in completely) and not too heavy, the 2.4 is a little slow rolling but it's not too severe. I tried 2.4 Maxxis Ardents before the NN's and I was shattered after 1 mile :p

I'm not looking forward to getting my Enduro with Spesh tyres on again (albeit different treads) as they are death traps imho!

I really like that, the frame looks very minimalist and clean - can't wait to see it in the flesh. What size stem is that by the way? It looks tiny!

Ok I've decided on Renthal Fatbars and possibly one of the new superstar stems in 50mm, to keep costs down, or ill go with the Renthal Duo stem to complete the look....tires I'm gonna forget till I can afford snakeskins, stem and bars come first. Open to suggestions as always.

You can pick up a set of M595 brakes for around this price which are considered to be much better than the M575's.

I'm using these now with 203/180 superstar vibe disc, can't really compare them to much else other than the BB7's they replaced and my old Hayes 9's that that BB7's replaced. But i'm more than happy with them, and bleeding them is so easy.

Can any one recommend me a set of XC wheels? Looking at spending around the £150 mark for a pair. Second hand is fine but I just don't know what I'm looking for.

White rims if possible, I'm a style conscience whore :P
