They have "sales" on from time to time. In other words, random reductions that are from inflated prices in the 1st place :)
I know a couple of people with Carrera's and they are decent bikes. Good frames

for your price range the Carrera's are a decent option. Dont let the Halfords connection put you off :)

I half-agree with you.

Halfords can vary massively. In my experience, if the staff there are good - then fine, buy the bike no worries. In the past I've taken cheap Raleigh bikes back to Halfords in Sunderland for replacement bottom brackets, and they've done it fine perfect no questions.

Halfords Durham on the other hand, I took my Carrera Vulcan back with apalling back brake performance 3 times, and still no improvement despite their assertations each time that they had fixed it. I decided it was cheaper to buy a new calliper myself than keep paying the petrol for the round trips, and that fixed the problem. £20 fix. Muppets.

Looks a nice bike, Its got 4.5 / 5 stars which is good :D

4.5 stars on a very relative scale, as reviewed by Halfords bike buyers - bare that in mind.

5/5 from
""very pleased used every day to commute to and from work"

4/5 from
"I have never spent this sort of money on a bike before but I'm glad I did!"

5/5 from
Pros: disc brakes, front suspension, quick change gears
Cons: no rear suspension

"Was looking for a mountain bike for work and maybe the very occasional offroad use. I have not been dissapointed, the bike swallows up the 6 mile ride to work without really noticing it. The gears are positive, quite accurate and the quick change facility is brlliant. Disc brakes are great and very reassuring.
No rear suspension but the front suspension reduces wrist injuries and fatigue.
As with most bikes that get daily used should regulary clean, Lubicate, check and service."

^^ This genius think that the hardtail soaks up the road miles, but a con is that it has no rear suspension.. brilliant ^^

The list goes on

What do you guys think to 2007 marzocchi all mountain 2's recently serviced and in really good condition for 130, I'm concidering these as pikes seem to start at 180 for decent condition any thing lower has scruffy lowers or marks on stanchions.
They for a 456 ss

Like all Marzocchis, a bit on the heavy side but very plush and robust, but can be a bit tempramental. I loved my 66ata but the ata bit broke so i had the rc3 internals fitted and love them more, marzocchis feel amazing with coils.

I wouldnt worry too much about scrached stanchions there pretty easy to sort out with some car paint.

Only 130mm? Not want a 160 on there make it All Mountain!!!

Just been to test my new M4s.. They're so much better than my Avids, plus all the pistons come out all the time, and there is no rub on the front wheel. My new saddle is like riding on a cloud compared to my old one too. Money well spent I think! :)

They're ace aren't they :D So solid, I've just been out and set mine up properly and they feel brand new again. Powa!

Ive got the CLIC 24 hour race tomorrow. Im doing 24 hours solo

hehe if the Epic holds up (with Brake issue's and everything else) and doesn't fall apart then Im planning for 12 hours +. Think a resonable target would be between 12 - 15 hours. depends on the weather too.

Wish me luck!
