Super steep at Llandegla? lol. You southern softy! :p

Sounds like you had an awesome time and it sounds like we have another Schwalbe convert too! :D

The first part is a bit of an up hill trek.. Its not so much the steepness, its just the fact that it goes on up hill for about 5km! Quite a few people had given up pedaling and had hopped off to push last weekend!

It's 160 meters of climbing in 3.2 miles - pretty flat tbh.
I've climbed 210 meters in 1.1 miles - that's quite steep ;) ... and Snowdon was about 900 meters up in 3 miles (Llanberis), 90% of this was ridable on the bike.

The first bit is a drag because it goes oooooooon and oooooooon. I think Berger means the short sharp climb that catches people out further round.

heres my sex:

Turn off the flash if you are shooting under bright indoor lighting.

As for the hydraulic shifting - Seems a cool idea but I aint convinced on the shifters. I prefer 2 separate levers for each shifter i.e. 1 to go up and 1 to go down. Rotating the shifter round before pressing it? Seems like an easy way to mess up your gear selection if you are in a hurry.

I was thinking the same, that but is very steep and loose ground as well when its bone dry.

Thats correct.

The first bit is a doddle, its just a gradual incline! My local route is steeper than this but only half as long but it makes it feel easy. There were some people pushing and going slow here though, I find it boosts me when it opens out in the deforested bit and you can see someone ahead, push that bit harder to catch and pass them.

The super steep bit is only on the red section, cross a fireroad, then it steepens straight away. Plenty of medium size pieces of loose rock make up the track and you need to pick a good line to get enough grip as well as being in the right gear at the start of it! On the map it is refered to as the "Double Steep Climb"

Map!

Colour : Black with Silver Stripe
Width : 2.25 Inch
Compound : Triple Nano

Fit on my Giant XTC 2.5

RIMS: Mavic XM117 ?

Edit: Recommended tire widths: 1.50 to 2.30 so this means they will be okay? What i not the difference between 2.1 and 2.25?
