I laughed at that comment, tell you what it really does shock me how fast and how much control these girls/lads have and managing to stay mostly upright, i feel out of control at times going at half those speeds on less technical stuff lol

O..M..G...Gwin is a machine, how on earth is that possible..

Brilliant win to win by that much :) be intresting to see what he did differernt to get it by so much.

Emailed Canyon to check when their next years models are out, don't want to buy one and 2013's to come out a tadge later.
I really like the AM model, not many reviews on the brakes though. You can get the XC 8 for the same price which is a couple of KG lighter but think i'd can loose that in body weight easy enough:)
Lastly it gives the option of the reverb seat post for £160, is it worth it? Tbh i don't think ive ever lowered my seat so not sure i'll use

2013 models wont be out till around March/April 2013, canyon are slow to bring in the newer gear.

I've got a 2011 Canyon AM 7 and can't fault it. It's been spanked week in week out and still rides like new. I've rode it when its been hammering it down, sun beaming and even a little snow riding and all the bearings/pivots are as smooth as new and silent, the only creak I've had is from the seat rails. It has the Elixer 5 brakes which have been spot on all the time as well, the only time I've had grief from them was when I took the back wheel off and stood on the rear brake lever by accident and the pistons popped out. I just popped em back in and levered the pads back in with a flat head screw driver with the bleeding screw slightly undone to let a drop of fluid out. I find the geometry for the rear suspension good as well, my friend has a cube ams 130 and even with the shock at near max psi its far too sloppy for me, but I have 270psi in the RP2 on me canyon and it's perfect. The build quality was out standing, gears were set right, wheels were built properly and true I haven't had to adjust anything really except shock psi to suit. The head angle is a little steep though, more XC than AM but it helps on sloggy climbs.

Sounds good :) The 2012 nerve am 7 comes with magura mt2 brakes, reading about the brakes further they have the same stopping power as the more expensive ones just not as light. Hopefully will have one later this month early next.

Yes, cheating b@st@rd
Weight saving by removing teeth, on top of being a ginger.....and we all know they don't have the weight of a soul to weigh them down.

I was wondering what he was putting in, presumed it some sweets or something, fancy having no teeth at that age!

I bought a 2011 AM6 last year and the 2012 ones seemed to start having very limited availability around December. Mines now 9 months old and I've upgraded quite a few parts (Wheels, brakes, bars, seatpost) and I've had to replace the rocker linkage bearings.

A Reverb is very much worth the upgrade, imo the current AM7 with a Reverb upgrade makes the higher models seem a bit pointless.

Very tough, rocky 50 mile race tomorrow, 2x25mile laps.

That second lap is going to hurt.

I lied, first lap was harder. Course was slick after rain this last week, large sections were just swamp with deep mud or water. Mud on all of the rocks made climbs much harder to clear. Struggled to eat and was basically bonking for the second half of the first lap. A couple of dumb crashes also slowed me right down.

Then on the second lap the thunderstorms started, heavy rain and hail. But I was feeling much better and rode the course much better than the first lap.

Totally missed my 6 hour objective with 7h20 and 58th place, but a long way behind the 4h42m winner

Oh well, a good warmup for my first 100 mile race of the season in a couple of weeks.

Woo-hoo, all my stuff arrives from the UK this week, including my Boardman, new chain and will be ready to find some places to ride off road around here :D

Pity its gone cold and horrible now its winter :(

Can anyone recommend me some tires please. My old tyres are starting to perish so I need some new ones. Primary use will be a cross between road and XC (road normally to get to the XC) and will need to be fairly thin, around 2.1". Thanks!
