Can i get a bit of pump advice guys? Would i be best getting a track pump and mini pump for my backpack. Or getting a better mini pump with gauge for both on and off trail?

If you could suggest any that would be great.

You'd probably be ok just going for a decent mini pump.
I like to have a track pump at home because it's much easier, but i'm a dirty roadie so i need big PSI. A mini pump would be fine for MTB pressures.

cheap footpump for some and a mini pump for out and about?

I've never had any bother with any of the topeak pumps I've used. Having said that, I can't remember the last time I got a puncture...

Didn't realise I could use strava with the Garmin, that means I can delete it off my phone now (not that I ever used it on that either.)

Cheers.

aye - strava you can upload direct from the 500. Also post up your username and I'll add you.

It's ridiculously addictive mind you!

Yeah it did cross my mind that i shouldn't need to be using a pump on trail other than if i had a puncture *touch wood* i havent had one for some time either. The Lezyne Micro Floor Drive looks pretty good and could be the best of both worlds?

Gents,

I have a Hybrid Carrera bike which although not super expensive I do worry about the quick release wheels being nicked sometimes. Having done some googling security skewers seem like a suitable answer to my worry, does anyone have any thoughts about "Trans-X Security Bicycle Quick Release Skewer set" for £10 on the rainforest site? They appear to lock with a pentagon shape allen key and the kit includes a seatpost skewer too.
Also, how hard are these to fit? I've seen guides which recommend bike grease, if this necessary?

Thanks.

Just signed up using farsebook, so Kieran Veale is my username.
Anyone else, feel free to add.

Edit : added you.

A cheap track pump is very handy to have at home/in the car as it's much quicker and easier than a mini pump. Lezyne stuff is very nice and I have one of their mini pumps (an alloy drive) that lives in my Camelbak and a CO2 inflator for my road bike. They're both beautifully made and nice to use. My track pump is made by Blackburn but a friend has a cheap lidl track pump that's fine.

Im just looking at CRC and their 2 best selling pumps are a track and mini pump by a company called Airwave. They aren't expensive but get good reviews. Could get both for £26, what you think?

I've no experience with the brand but my previous mini pump was similar and it was awful. Having an extension to fit onto the valve rather than just the pumps head seems a much better design and negates the risk of damaging the valve stem when you're pumping. The track pump looks fine though.

Get the top peak pump from CRC, I think its called the mountain pro or something (will link it tomorrow as i am on the tablet at the moment) Its what I use and its very reliable and small enough to fit in my hydration pack. I think it cost me about £20ish

Edinburgh Bike Co-op Revolution Air Track Pump Pro :-

Stonking value for money and solidly built. It's THE best track pump bar none that I've ever owned. Clever head system so it can be used on both Presta and Schrader valves. Mini pump for backpack?. About all they are useful for is increasing your arm muscle strength, certainly if you need to get a high PSI into a road tyre anyway, perhaps ok for the lower pressures MTB's run. However I'd advocate carrying a CO2 inflator and a spare cartridge or two instead of a hand pump. Ok, so if you are unlucky enough to have to use both cartridges in a short space of time on the same ride then you are screwed. But that's what mobile phones are for. :p:D

Looking into getting my first DH bike. Was looking at this http://www.yt-industries.com/shop/index.php?page=product&info=201.

Does anyone have any experience with this company?

I'm pretty sure weescott bought a YT bike, hopefully he can give his experience for ya if he see's this.

Canyon are a similar company and do a bargain DH rig aswell: http://www.canyon.com/_uk/mountainbikes/bike.html?b=2579

I've got a Canyon and have been more than happy with the quality.

If you want to buy closer to home then look no further than the Saracen Myst: http://www.saracen.co.uk/bikes/downhill/myst-pro

I have the 1st gen YT Tues DH. It's the perfect 1st DH bike. Very plush and sits deep into its travel. If you are ever at Pitfichie you can have a go. :)

Anyone had any experience with the On One 456 carbon?
Is there a reason the price has been slashed?

Looking to build something up over a few months, thought it looked alright...

yes - great frame for a bonkers price. Will post a pic later of my bike with new wheels on. The price's go up and down a bit but at £299 it's a nuts price.

You can build a very very capable 150mm HT with the frame.

The FRX is a fair bit cheaper as well hmm. I've ordered from Canyon before when I got my yellowstone and the service was good.

Maybe looking at buying a bike, nothing serious just for the odd bike ride, mainly paths minimal road use, any ideas? might just hit ebay for a bog standard mountain bike.

Im 6"2 so not 100% sure on sizes, some people put the wheel size others put the frame size??
