Looking at a Morewood Shova frame advertised locally to base my new bike build on, anyone got any thoughts on the frame? Doesn't seem to be an awful lot of chatter about it online, the one I'm looking at is a 2010/11 Model with Hope headset included and a couple of other bits, really tempting as it seems like a good alternative to the Five I originally considered but much cheaper :/

Yes, I used to have the stroker carbons, the hope tech levers are much more solid under the finger and the x2s will have good modulation in comparison, I found the strokers to be quite on/off.

Do you have any more details about the frame you have now?

Any pictures?

Just taken these

As you can see thats a Bolinas Ridge hardtail from Marin. It's one of the top end hardtails in their Hardtail>Alloy category for Trail use so it's perfectly suited around any trails you can ride if you're a beginner.

I started on a Marin Northside Trail hardtail (same category) and abused that to hell and back (still got it and in one peice) so that Bolinas Ridge will be fine.

See if your Dad is willing to sell it to you seeing as he doesnt use it! Then upgrade some components, give it a clean and jobs a good 'un!

This is the 2012 Bolinas Ridge : http://www.marin.co.uk/2013/bikepage.php?ModNo=13BR#

Edit: Nice job on the blowing the derailleur up :D DONT put that chain back on, get a new one.

haha dont worry new chain and derailleur is on its way as we speak! I do have some commonsense! :P

He doesn't mind me using it, I'm still living at home and I can more or less call it mine. He bought it through that cycle to work scheme but his line of work doesn't really allow him to do it. But my sister also uses it sometimes, so Ideally I want to get a bike for myself.

Wouldn't mind a full suspension frame either.

Went to Glentress the other day.....only just over an hour away.

Forgot my wallet, no drama plenty of petrol.

Got there and forgot my locking nut for the wheel to attach. GREAT! :/ Back home now and won't get the chance to go for a while. Gutted much.

I image the cassette is nice and worn too, normally worth doing with the chain :)

Drove an hour before and when i went to put the bike together realised the QR skewer for the rear wheel was at home :(

Sound like my mate, we drove about 2 hours to Moelfre only for him to have left his rear axle at home.... Another time we drove just over 2 hours to Antur Stiniog, he had left his fork axle at home! Thankfully this time we drove their with other people I stayed whilst he drove home and back

Everyone done much riding over christmas? I went out twice both times returning home looking like some swamp monster. My local trails are either washed away or 2 feet deep in mud. Still fun but its hard going when there is just zero grip.
