We are looking to get my Mum a bike soonish for around £550-£650.

Evans have a 2011 BMC that is reduced to £550 but Canyon look like great value as well. I havent bought a bike in 10 years so is there anyone who can comment and point me in the right direction?

Took my two Makulus for a snowskid along the local bridleways, the 4wd one had a bit more traction though.

Anyone find themselves at the beginning of the year setting sights on how to waste money on bikes? Now i've got a bike i'm pretty happy with its time to make it a little better.
Plans this year are for some new wheels, american classic all mountain front and rear and then get some tubeless tyres. Reckon this will lighten the bike quite a bit.
Also want a cheap hardtail for the smaller trails.

Be adding some new forks to mine soon, which will ditch 1.8lbs of weight. Other than that just to ride more than last year so set my sights on at least 1000 miles.

I need some help with an old marzocchi fork i have.
This is what the top of the compression side looks like:

Any tips for undoing this?
Tried a big pair of pliers - but that just chews it up (it's plastic)
also tried a screwdriver in one of the teeth, but i cant move it.
