Big Chef, Little chef..

Hmmm. I feel we've been short-changed here. We've suddenly taken a massive leap between what happened last episode and what we've started off with tonight.

Where's all the footage of Heston and his team discussing the dishes, working out how they'll be cooked by the staff, how they'll be plated up, etc? All the stuff about dealing with the suppliers, deciding on ingredients, etc?

^^
I missed the first few minutes, what happened when heston walked out, or did they just ignore that bit today..
Not ignored, just somewhat glossed over.

There's got to be a good hour's worth of television that has been cut. What happened after Ian and Heston's meeting at the Hinds head hasn't been followed up; we've heard very little about the food and the decisions that were made and why; there's been barely anything about the redesign of the kitchens or the resturant itself and all that goes with it, and not enough has been made about the pricing and profit margins for Heston's new menu.

Still looks like a damn good restaurant though. Would love to know how much that cost.

I noticed that too!
We didn't even see the new menu, just 3 or 4 dishes?

I think they will still be losing money after 3 months and will just water-down the changes and roll that out. Bit of short-term publicity and a new gimmick.

There was a massive shift in tone between the middle and last episode. I've got my suspicions that this was originally a four episode run and it's been edited to make it feel like we've had a beginning, middle and end. There's something we're not being shown for either editorial reasons or because LC didn't want it aired.

Unless they didn't film it, which would be completyely bizarre as it would only have been in the experimental kitchen in Bray, we've been denied the pleasure of watching about the whole process behind deciding what was going on the new menu. Where it was coming from, what companies were being trusted to make it, what compromises had to be made and all the other stuff that goes along with it. And I'd have though a food programme would have wanted to cover that in more detail than it did.

Still, it looks like it's worth a quick drive down to Popham to see how it's all shaping up. I quite fancy trying those braised ox cheeks.

I agree that it does feel like loads of things were left out. How could anyone design a kitchen if they didn't know what the final menu was adn how on earth can you leave a final decision on a menu until the night before - complete rubbish.

Loving the loos though. I wonder if he had read the hysterical thread that was here a couple of months ago regarding music in mens' toilets?

Agent meghatronic Your Mission for today is to find a Wimpey & try a Quarter with Cheese followed by a Brown Derby.

A Brown Derby = A warm ring doughnut covered in Vanilla ice cream & covered in chopped nuts & chocolate sauce
There is Nothing in the World that tastes like a Brown Derby & the only way you can improve on a BD is to have a Quarter with Cheese first to warm your taste buds up with.

Here is there description, I think mine is Better :p
A scrumptious doughnut topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce, sprinkled with nuts
I found one, not close, but fortunately I'm going there this weekend. It better be good!
