Big drop in BF1 performance on Nvidia add since December update

^Ha ha! Is it that time already?

Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a shot tonight. If they have simply fixed issues and upgraded the visuals then I suppose I can't complain. I still don't understand why the engine maxes all cores on my i5 when nothing else comes close to doing that but oh well.

It also highlights how accustomed I've become to FPS over 60, if I had a 60hz screen I wouldn't really have noticed a difference, now dips to/just below 60 are intolerable!

Did this help at all? I've just noticed that you have the same basic setup as me cpu and mobo wise so you suffer from the same heavy CPU usage. From reading around the game is very CPU heavy and prefers the i7 for its hyper threading. But this is bad coding optimisation if you ask me.

I haven't had a chance to experiment properly yet, will do soon. I have to agree that it's bad coding, but I still can't help feel it's an issue of some sort as in various forums there are i7 users reporting the same problems.

Yes can confirm worse performance since patch but still using the previous GeForce drivers at present.

Running a 1070/2600K/8 GB RAM and performance degraded after the first patch, and now even worse since the second....:/

At least the sli flickering bug was fixed.

Still only getting 90-120ish fps with 980ti sli tho @ 1080p (125% res scale) ultra settings. And card usage droped from 99/99 to 80 ish.

Increasing res scale to 200% (4k) gives the same fpsish with more gcard usage but larger drops.

Bf1 is a hard one to work out for me. Im not cpu or gpu limited so can only be pure grunt or poor optimisation holding me back.

SLI bug's still not fixed properly. 1080SLI here, and randomly at the end of rounds the flickering comes back, dropping back to the main menu sorts it though.

Just done some testing for fps performance with SLI on and off. In game graphic settings are at low 'cheat to win' lol, 1440p, latest drivers, 6700K @ 4.6.

With SLI enabled on Amiens Conquest:
CPU Usage: 75% av. with spikes of 82%
Cards: solid 1949mhz
Framerate: Max=200, Min=121, Av.=165

SLI Disabled on Amiens Conquest:
CPU Usage: 83% av. with spikes of 90%
Cards: Solid 1949mhz
Framerate: Max=200, Min=133, Av.160

So although I get 5fps more on average with SLI enabled, I get a crappier min fps. This is across the board on all maps (including Giants Fog).

Amiens is the worst map for me. I get random drops to 20/30fps for no apparent reason sometimes.

Would be interested to know what you get on full ultra settings with your setup. Everything ultra 1080p 125res scale with hbao on and then 4k ultra as a comparassion.

If theres a thread for this already then appologies

Here you go:

All full Ultra, 125res, HBAO on. Amiens Conquest. I accidentally left G-Sync on on the 4K SLI test.

1080p:

Single Card:
CPU Usage: 76% av. with spikes of 93%
Cards: solid 1962mhz
Framerate: Max=138, Min=84, Av.=107

SLI:
CPU Usage: 75% av. with spikes of 88%
Cards: solid 1936mhz
Framerate: Max=166, Min=108, Av.=140

1440p:

Single Card:
CPU Usage: 59% av. with spikes of 96%
Cards: solid 1962mhz
Framerate: Max=87, Min=55, Av.=79

SLI:
CPU Usage: 70% av. with spikes of 89%
Cards: solid 1936mhz
Framerate: Max=130, Min=91, Av.=124

4K:

Single Card:
CPU Usage: 44% av. with spikes of 66%
Cards: solid 1962mhz
Framerate: Max=57, Min=30, Av.=38

SLI:
CPU Usage: 76% av. with spikes of 97%
Cards: solid 1936mhz
Framerate: Max=60, Min=53, Av.=59

Weird CPU usage on the 4K single card, specially as BF1 is pretty CPU heavy. Also looks like SLI doesn't scale well on 'low4pro' settings @1440p.

*edit* added 1440p@same settings.

Will try the same tonight

I seem to have the game running at a very good framerate again. Two things have changed: I'm now running with 16GB of RAM (I'm sure this is of no consequence as usage reaches 6.9GB at most), and I did a fresh install of Windows 10 (I bought a 750GB Crucial MX300 to supercede my Samsung 830 Pro as my primary drive). Granted I've not played much (one TDM round on the jungle/railroad map and conquest on one of the desert maps) but neither seem to exhibit the nasty drops I had post patch. Make of that what you will I suppose.

I tried setting CPU priority to realtime but that introduced nasty occasional hitches (before I realised I hadn't played since the OS reinstall).

Just to update the above - the latest Nvidia drivers appears to have restored performance somewhat back to previous levels. Everything running much better than before
