In the Ai tweaker menu in Bios I get 4.2 extremelly stable just by setting AI overclock tuner to XMP, leaving BCLK/PCIe frequency at 100 and adjusting "by all cores to 42.
Everything else is set to Auto and this gives a 27% improvement.
I have played and got it running upto 4.6 but it never stays stable long enough and is erattic at best so i have settled at 4.2
Ok so I THINK ive overclocked my machine... Can people just confirm from my image please? Can I now class my setup as a 4.5Ghz? Do all the stats look ok or is CPU temp way too high? on idle its running at around 40c.
80 is pretty much the limit... you have managed to stable 4.5ghz overclock but the temps seem a little high; if you fire up a game your GPUS are gonna add to the heat and you are going to get very hot... you should probably dial back a bit. Try and google around what other people have managed to get with that cooler perhaps you need better thermal grease? or perhaps this is normal for the cooler?
like I say I dont have much experience with air but I would have thought that cooler would have done better than that.. Im going to set my CPU to the same as yours and run some tests and post the results for you
looks like I am 30+ degrees lower than you.. again, I stress I dont have much experience with this but this is a huge difference.. have a look at what others acheive with your cooler, what thermal grease did you use?
I did ask this above and im still not sure - i can increase the cpu fan speed - but does this have any affect when its a pump (h60) not a fun? i dont hear any addition noise and i dont see any changes in temps when i increase to 100%.
the beginning of overclocking really is as simple as turning up the multiplier from 33 to 45... it really is that easy, if this is what you did then you have overclocked
like I say.. see what temps other people have with this cooler and let us know how you added the thermal grease and which grease
