would it be better to get another two monitors and run 3d surround/ eyefinity, or get a bigger monitor?

if you mean big screen as in a 30" then go for that as you get a way better quality screen and it will probably be better for you over all

yeah, a 23.6" is about average

I also wouldn't advise surround as you only have a GTX 460, so don't buy a monitor now, save up a bit until you can afford at least a U2311H

i'm upgrading my gpu, I was just wondering what would be better as it would help me pick out of the gtx 480 or the amd 6950 :p

I'd go for a bigger monitor over surround/eyefinity. In fact I am (I had eyefinity, but decided it's just as much of a gimmick as 3D, so sent the extra 2 monitors back and am going to get a 27" or higher IPS monitor soon).

Oh, and I'd definitely recommend getting the 2311H if your budget allows. A certain shop were doing them for around £230.

I'd recommend 3 high res monitors, screen space is great, but I also like the way apps are easy to maximise on seperate screens. If you have just the one big stonking screen, you spend forever tiling your windows around ;) my two pence.

But he's getting it for gaming?

honestly that 480 isn't really worth it, the money would be far better spent on a U2410 or LP2475w as the quality is sooo much better than TN panels and your 460 can handle the res
