Biggest console related mistake of my life... (PS3 related)

I bought a 360 about this time last year, it was great, i got it with PGR3 and loved it, got loads of good games (GoW, Saints row, Cod3 etc).

I was having reliabilty issues at the beggining of te year, it would crash quite a lot and i was already on my second console, untill i went round my friends house and played on his PS3, we played motorstorm, Resistance and Fight Night. I really liked it, and i knew it would be more reliable, so i thought why not and traded in my 360 for a ps3.

It was good at first, but when i starting completing or getting bored of my games (Resistance, Motorstorm, Darkness and Fight Night), i go onto gamespot and sites like that and look at the 'coming soon' section for ps3, and all the games there are either: on 360 meaning the ps3 will get a bad port and have loads of jaggies:P, Dont interest me at all (lots of japense type games dont appeal to me, except mgs4). Yet on the 360, there are games such as: Halo 3, Mass Effect, two worlds, bioshock, GTA IV with more content, and lots more, plus not to mention the much better online, and now that i have wireless it should be even better. Plus i miss games like Saints Row and Dead Rising, they were just so fun to play.

I am really starting to regret it, and im thinking at the end of the month to trade my ps3 in for the elite. I think the Elite is released on the 24th of august.

Just a few quesions:

1:Do you think its worth doing, juding by what ive said?

2: Anyone else done this and regretted it?

3:Whats the trade in price for a ps3 at a well known high street place with 4 big capital letters?

4: Other than MGS4 (plus more crappy japanese style rpg/hackandslash games), are there any other good exlusive games for te PS3 coming out at the end of the year?

Just trade in the PS3, and buy it again next summer. You're not alone in not researching the PS3's software library and making the wrong choice in the current circumstances. A few members here bought a PS3 and regretted getting rid of their 360s for it.
 
If you get an Elite on the 24th you can pick up Bioshock and Blue Dragon (also released that day) as well! What a day...

I really wasnt impressed with the Blue Dragon demo at all, Eternal Sonata on the other hand is looking great.

I took one quick look then left it. You can't play 10 mins from the the middle of a rpg, you need to start from the err start.

I'm a sucker for rpgs and I just can't not play it.

I'd either upgrade your PC or get a 360, depending on how much money you get.

360 has a better line up this year, 2008 will be more a PS3 year I think.

My PS3 was faulty and I just got a refund and upgraded the PC instead, I got really, really bored with it, and couldn't bebothered waiting till like October for decent games to appear, even then most the games out on PS3 this year are multi-format.

Well im 15 (16 in a few weeks) so i dont really get a lot of money, so the 360 is probably the best option, plus Bioshock looks amazing :eek:
 
For a 15 year who don't get a lot of money, you sure have a nice rig! But yeah, I would try asking around at gamestores and such and see how much they'd offer for your PS3 - depending on how much they want for it I'd either trade for a 360 or keep it if the offer's too low. There are plenty of decent games out for the PS3 before the end of the year, like Heavenly Sword next month.
 
Yeah I agree with nokkon, I bought my ps3 knowing games would be thin on the ground until the holiday season. I was prepared to wait and having played a similar waiting game with 360 last year I knew I could hold on for games. I am going to buy an elite myself but I wont sacrifice the ps3 to get it, I don't think I could take the loss I would make when trading it in, so I would rather save the pennies and buy the elite and add that to my ps3 and wii and get the best of all three platforms.

No point trying to convince you to hold on to your ps3, you know I am sure of the games that are coming so I won't list them. Your mind seems made up, so go with it.

How many places have you looked at for the trade in?

You could always offer it on the MM and see how much you'd get for a sale... then use the money to get a 360 ??
 
well ive just found out, for my ps3 and my stuff, i would get £378, which isnt bad considering i only paid about £200 for a ps3 in the first place :eek:
