i'll be getting a nice grant in october and was looking to get a big screen for my pc.

i would need a screen and a graphics card to run the higher resolutions.

i was looking at the Dell 2407 with 1920 x 1200 res + 512 X1800XT

but ive seen people using LCD TV's. my dad has one and it looks horrible as the res is something like 1280x760 stretched over a large screen is all blurry.

i want the best size/res and 1:1 pixel mapping would be needed as ive seen my dad's LCD TV with pc input and it looks horrible. all blurry and i couldnt sit infront of that or longer than 5 minutes reading text, hurts my eyes.

Need some suggestions on the best way to spend my money.
Thanks for any replies.

2407 and 7950GX2?
At current prices you are around £200 too expensive (incl del)

Shopping Cart (Prices in British Pounds) REFERENCE DESCRIPTION QUANTITY PRICE COST REMOVE
MO-009-DE Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Midnight Grey (MO-009-DE)
£649.95 £649.95
GX-086-LT Leadtek GeForce 7950 GX2 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-086-LT)

Subtotal £994.90

but you could swap the GX2 for a:
Sapphire ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-112-SP)

complete and utter crap my 32 inch sammy is a hd lcd tv running at 1360 x 768 and is not blurry at all your dads must not be set up right or he has bought a crap tv and if i had the option of my sammy or a dell, which i did before i bought i chose the sammy because its bigger. how far away do you sit from the screen when using it, i sit about 4-5 feet away and is perfect

also on a graphics card not he difference between the x1800xt and x1900xt is about 10 fps i have both and trust me your better off with the x1800 and buying the best screen you want

well i think its just crap then lol.

okay but that res is less than my current screens so doesnt really offer any advantage apart from being bigger. i would actually get less Desktop Space Than i have with my current 17" screens. and i sit about 1' away from my screens.

i have a projector thats about 76" but is only 800x600 i was looking for more resolution. so i think im gonna be going for either the dell. to get the 1920 x 1200 or the Viewsonic's to get 2x 1680 x 1050

if i did get the dell 24" i would be using my 2x17" digimates eiter side of it. after doing some research i think i will go for the dell. thanks for replies.
