Biggest 'WOW!' factor from a component you've upgraded?

I tend to upgrade cpu and gfx every year so the steps aren't that huge. The biggest change had to be going from a 14" CRT to a 17" CRT and then going from a 17" TFT to a 22" Dell TFT

So many choices!

Firstly my 17" sun crt (it did a max of 1168x921) to a 20" samsung 205bw :D (i love it)
Then a 386 to DUAL pentium pro with 32meg of ram, 4 or 8 speed cdrom and a sound card! (i wish my did hadnt taken that back to work all those years ago)
Celeron 600 to amd 3000+ 939 system blew my socks off!
Finally the opty 148 to mye core2 system is pretty nice too (civ4 to the max anyway!!)

Least impressive was a p2 400 to the celeron 600 though. I lost a voodoo card to an onbaord intel chipset *crys for sco going under in the uk*

1st, windows 98
2nd, win xp
3rd, Vista

they have been such a bigger upgrade than anything component.
Even a over clcoked geforce 3 at £300 didn't impress me as much as the OS upgrades.

Oh and a 19" flat screen crt, such a difference over a fish bowl. Tft apart from saving space doesn't seem like much of an upgrade.

Going from my 17" Viewsonic to this 24" monitor.

I dont know how I used to live with a small monitor.

Pentium 2 Upgrade.
Voodoo 2 GFX Accelerator.
Rubbishy 15" CRT dinosaur from dad's office to brand new 17" Samsung 172x LCD.
CD-ROM drive!
Having a sound card as opposed to PC speaker blips and bleeps.
Quiet water cooling setup.
56K to NTL Broadband in 2001.

I'm really old.

blurry 17" CRt to a nice clear 22" TFT.

and onboard sound to a creative xfi extreme music. I wasn't expecting it to bew that noticable and was only buying it because my onboard sound borked, but it sounds a lot better.

oh and my new pc from my old one which was like 5 or 6 years old.

thats from an athlon xp, 512mb ram, 9550. to a q6600, 4gb ram, 8800gtx

256k broadband from 56k dialup - and signing up for xbox live the evening it activated. First online match with mics on RS3

17" office surplus crt -> 19" widescreen acer tft + crt.
Triple impact of first TFT, first widescreen and Dual Monitors. :D

Getting a Homebase dining table as a desk for £74. It's like 5' x 3' :D
Huuuge amounts of room and nicer than the cheap(er) tat I had before.

Beat-Up chieftec Dragon to Lian-Li V1000. Just looked so much classier and a much easier case to work in.

hmmmm I have several WoW's to be honest...
going from a single 512mb 7600GT to Crossfire X1900XTX's
going from a 19" widescreen TFT to a 22" and also from 22" to 24"(more clarity then size)
first time I used a 27" LCD as a monitor?!
and when I upgradedfrom a jeantech phong case to the akasa eclipse 62...

jump from a 17" to a 22" monitor then the same again at work when they gave me 2 22" units - i wish i could take my pc in and use them both

im stuck with the lenovo at work though :(
