I always thought it was the middle aged born again riders that were the worst statistics? ; P

Some EU stats I found: "almost two-thirds of the riders killed on non-built-up roads were aged over 30 and were riding bikes with an engine capacity greater than 500cc. " there is a similar report for some UK police forces too, most of the rural crashes are on high powered motorcycles and over 30.

Not that I'm saying 30 is middle aged... seeing as I'm now only a year away from it...

To be honest it's not surprising that there's more people over 30 on 600cc or above than under 30 is it? If these are put to a percentage and then the percentage of each that crash and die on non built up roads then it's a fair comparison

A lot of the solo bike crashes are weekend warriors and/or born again riders, i.e. had a licence for 20 years, rode when they were in their 20's, gave it up to raise a family but now the kids have moved out they've bought a panigale/fireblade/R1 even though they haven't ridden for 10 or 15 years.

There's always a lot of crashes/deaths in spring too when the summer only riders get their bikes out for the first ride of the year and have completely forgotten how to ride.

So yeah a combination of born again bikers and/or weekend warriors.

Riding all year round makes you a better rider, there's probably no stats to prove it but it's true.

No catch, apart from needing a valve service. Aprilia's in general tend to be good value used, the shiver and 750 dorsoduro were never that popular so are cheap used.

What about the 1200 dorsoduro? A bigger tank, but also worse MPG, 130bhp and not much more ££ than the 750, which might feel a little underpowered with only 95bhp.

You get traction control on the 1200 too, and if you want some extra bling, weight saving and better handling you can get OEM aprilia forged wheels that will fit it ;):D

Oh and RJ had a dorsoduro before he had the Nuda :D

I don't like the 1200, the 750 is a much better looking bike!

Had a go of a friends 14 plate Yamaha r6.

WOW

I want one now! They are so smooth compared to a v twin, I love the clutch as they have a slipper clutch and I like how progressive the power is!

Shame about insurance.

Just so smooth!

After my browsing of Aliexpress to pick up a cheap stubby exhaust I'm really tempted to order a load of the Rizoma reservoirs and stick them on eBay now that I've been using mine for 8 months, I wonder how long it would take eBay to give me a spanking :D

Who uses the clutch for downshifts? :p

If you get one get it mapped, it's infinitely better

I do, sv k3 half faired.

I do like my bike, but I would love an il4 as I prefer the sound of them, always have done. Just like I prefer turbo cars to v8.

I will get one eventually.

I changed my mind, after couple rides when someone is shooting past me on a bike with IL4 it sounds mental. In town when I had a chance to ride a GSXR for 15 min it was boring, but on twisties I bet it would be really fun.

Just 21 months till I can get one... :(

I must admit there is something about the scream of an IL4 pushing on that puts a massive grin on my face, but then I do like the twin roar as well.

The twin roar whilst on lower RPM's is satisfying, but once you go above 6k the noise it makes isn't as thrilling, as the one on a IL4. :p

Some of the fastest people in our local group ride GSXR's. :p They had other bikes, but always comeback to GSXR's. :)

BTW What places can I get parts from fairly cheaply? I want to try and fit an R6 throttle tube, I'm sick and tired of the long twist on my throttle...

Find the part number and google it, that's how I managed to find a place selling the left grip for half the price of anywhere else and a full set of OEM dust/oil seals for £30 rather than £60.

Failing that if you just want a good reliable parts place then Fowlers have been spot on every time I've used them.
