Full face helmets are the best in protection. Flip up helmets are not bad by any means and perhaps will be convenient for your glasses. They are slightly heavier than full face ones.
If one has a crash with the helmet jaw flipped up, then safety area compromised is about 25%.

If you have something like a branch of Sportsbikeshop near you go there, they'll have a large selection and will hopefully give you some decent advice.
Sportsbikeshop offer free returns as well, I've had a couple of grands worth of various boots sat in my house in the past trying to find something to fit my wide feet and returned it all within a couple of months with out issues.
This is the way if you don't have a local. SBS are absolutely amazing. Their customer service and returns are top notch - especially for mass fitting endeavours and returns.Sportsbikeshop offer free returns as well, I've had a couple of grands worth of various boots sat in my house in the past trying to find something to fit my wide feet and returned it all within a couple of months with out issues.
Each manufacturer has a slightly different fit and it varies person to person. HJC helmets fit me like a glove. Others not so much. It's best to just try lots of different helmets of the right size. Your measurement will give you an indicator of S/M/L/etc but that's where it ends.I was thinking of head shape, that helmets would cater to different head shapes? have any helmet brands offer an app which can scan your head front/back/sides and give recommendation.
It wouldn't have to measure in cm, just get the shape, then you can then choose specific model and choose the sizing
Although should be able to work out size, by having something of a known reference if you balance an item ontop of your head, like sugar cube or something.

This is very true. When I was trying helmets at SBS, my current lid HJC RPHA 70 Carbon fitted perfect, however the newer 71 Carbon felt very uncomfortable.Helmet brands will make a couple of shells and stick different amounts of packing in them for your dome, so even if one brand fits well, the same brand might not with a different lid.

XXL? Have you got a blimp between your shoulders? You can see it here. One of these lids is a small, the other is XXL. The actual plastic lids are exactly the same size, but you can very clearly see that the one of the left has a ton more packing in it.

I had an RPHA 70 Carbon and the resin literally melted on it after a year! Got a full refund as they'd been discontinued by then. I also had the same experience with the 71, but the RPHA 11 fits my head even better than the 70 did if you haven't tried one. This is very true. Do you always check if your head fits before filtering?I prefer to go with rugby ball. Yes, I have a hilariously huge melon on my shoulders. My current daily is like XXXL or something stupid, think it's the largest size they do![]()
