Nice, I mean look at the K5 and L1, they look so much alike! Its ridiculous...

I've to give it to Yamaha, look at the older sports from early 2000's, Yamaha was so much ahead in terms of the design. They still are in a way, the R1(M) looks so futuristic compared to other competitors.

Edit:
For the next bike, I'll either get a R6 or GSXR K8. I don't want to jump onto a 1000, it'll be too early...

Yeah the R1m is an immense bike, looks so mean how the headlight are layed out and the rear is a piece of art, Yeah you can't go far wrong with a 600 super sport for the road

Nearly crashed, I wasn't going fast... the rear just lost traction and It was escaping. The woman in the car at the back when I parked was like, are you ok? I was yeah, just had a little slide.

You know that moment when you know you're F...? Well, that's how I felt. :p I checked the area, lots of diesel spill, you could see rainbow line from my slide... water+diesel spill is so slippery!

It must be a Yamaha thing as the R1(M) has **** brakes also, put me right off buying one and back to looking at the 1299S again.

Last thing I want to do is buy an M and then have to spend another 2k+ on calipers, discs, pads and master cylinder etc

The electronic Öhlins is just amazing on the road though and the R1M and 1299S are the only two bikes I like the look of that use it.

MCN commented on ZX10R and R1 brakes and other modern day brake by wire/ABS lacking feel. With the non-ABS version running a lot better.

Yep!
I've become eagle-eyed for **** like that on the road now.

Looks like I will need to remove the front wheel to paint the forks. What methods to people use?

At the moment the only one I have is to get it on the center stand with the mrs sat on the back of the bike and then remove the wheel and chock it up with bricks

Yeah it's that spongy vagueness that must be from the ABS pump on some systems.
They still work but you just can't feel what is happening when you pull on the lever.

The S1000R has superb feel through the brakes. A lot of the problems with the MT-10 are caused by using cheap rubber hoses. Even my Street Triple non-R has braided lines which should really be mandatory on all bikes.

Yeah, I've ridden the S1000RR a lot and never had an issue with the brake feel, may be a little fade towards the end of the sessions but it was a stock setup.

I don't think it's the lines though as bikes with braided lines, great calipers, proper pads, upgraded master cylinder but ABS pump and you can get the spongy feel.

Even the Panigale R I rode on track didn't have as good initial feel as the S1000RR but once you get past the first bit of lever travel the brakes were so damn powerful on it.

Apparently it is with the MT-10 as there are lots of reports of braided lines fixing the horrendous feel in the brakes.

I guess it doesn't use the same system as the new R1 then? As the R1 I rode had lots of upgrades but stock ABS was still running.

Personally I wanted to know how fast I was approaching corners, I took my mirrors off though.

Why do you need to know though?? no corner is an exact speed? and thats the whole point if you are looking down at your speed your not looking in front if the rider in front has braked really early, or missed your own braking marker and run on, thats why most tracks have braking markers on every corner, you learn from those when is best to apply your brakes depending on your bike/riding style.

The new GSXR is fugly and even worse than S1000RR fugly, why couldn't they do the new bike tech in the model before styling :/

Yamaha seem be the only bike maker not using brembo stuff off their high end bikes, gods knows why  I know the baron moaned about the brakes on the R1M.

Still, a pair of monoblocks would only be a £400 upgrade, and another £200 for an RCS19 master cylinder.

It was everywhere, you could just see rainbow patches, but it caught me out on 1 road that had no lights and I was sliding/drifting, the scariest part was when it stopped, it tried to throw me off. But I had a worst one with the bridgestones some time ago on a roundabout, I landed with my balls on the tank and my wrist/hands were killing me for the rest of the day. :(

I'm lucky I didn't crash, I thought for a second I'm going down with the bike. :p

You want to do it the ghetto way? If you workout, get weights of around 50kg's (that's how much we used) at the rear seat when the bike is on the centre stand.

If it was just a wheele replacement, you could get 2 mates to hold the bike for you. We did that with my mates CBR, he couldn't wait for the front paddock... :p

I like (some) GSXR's, but the new one is ugly af... the 1st gen S1000RR at first seemed ugly, but than just like with the R1 the looks have grown on me. The 2nd gen S1000RR is ugly though, I don't like it... it lost that mean look the 1st gen has. :(

Are you getting your generations mixed up? A Gen 1 and 2 S1000RR are identical. The third gen is 2015 onwards. Which is a thing of beauty, if you're German and like curly sausage ;)

Looks are subjective, I personally think the early ones are dated. I love the look of the 3rd Gen which is why I bought myself one. :)
