Treated myself to some Keis heated gloves to go with my heated jacket from them. Wow they are amazing, heated grips are ok but the backs of your hands and thumb tips always get cold. These keep your whole hand warm, lowest setting is fine for 70+ on the motorway at 5c.

Or you could just drive a car :D


My textiles are "waterproof" do they need application of some kind of spray to keep waterproof? Or do they have waterproof layer so the outside gets wet but not the inside?

Where is the fun in that? I do have the Mustang and my van but I love riding the bike.

You can buy a spray like this, get the jacket wet, spray it on and then throw it in the tumble drier and it will repel water again

 
Got the bike out of the garage today once it stopped raining. Been almost 6 weeks since I rode it and about a month since it saw any outside world. Loads of condensation had built up. Wiped it all down and also fired her up. Was pleasantly surprised to see her burble to life in 2 cranks.

Ran the engine for about 5-7 minutes until I was sure most of the condensation inside the exhaust had vaporised. Checked tyre pressure as it felt little low and pumped them back up. Rolled back into the garage until next time it is clear weather and it was getting dark.

Hopefully next time she is out it will be to get some miles under the belt. :)
 
Used mine for the first time since before the NZ trip this morning. To take it for its 36k valve clearance service and a new rear. I was laughing hysterically within the first mile. I really do love the 1290 engine!

Managed to get there in the dry, but sadly it's been on and off rain since. So the relatively bland 790 Adventure courtesy bike is a bit mucky, which I expect mine will also be soon. It's also without a quickshifter (or without it enabled, I haven't checked for the hardware). Quite amusing getting back to remembering how to clutchless nicely after many years being spoiled. It's also hella quiet, like all OEM modern bikes I suppose. Good prep for electric ones!

Now I'm tempted to preemptively ride back now before weather gets worse!
 
I found out a way to fix my issue with attaching the air compressor to the front valve. I used by right hand from the other side of the wheel (passing it through) and grabbed the compressor attachment from there while holding it inline with my left hand. This helped a lot to get it attached easily. :)
 
The worst I've had is when you try do a nice launch off the lights and stick it into Neutral instead of 2nd :p
I had almost f'd up at a standstill while waiting at red lights. Bike was in Neutral and I was stretching my hands, and for some reason I lifted my left leg to place it on the peg but stupidly kept it on the gear lever to shift to 1st. Bear in mind my hands were off the handlebar. A nice jolt and stall was the result. Yours truly redeemed himself by not falling or letting the bike fall to add more shame. :p

I remember one of the first times I took my missus out on the back, filtered past all the traffic in 3rd, got to a red light, forgot to put it into 1st, lights changed I went to pull away and stalled it Infront of all the traffic :p she still goes on about it to this day and that was back in 2013
