I suspect that if that had have ended in an accident you would still somehow be at fault, despite the fact the car has cut across in front of you. There's a small roundabout on my way home from work that is like that, but much smaller. Two lanes, left goes left and straight over, right goes straight over and right.
People are always bombing up the right lane to go straight over despite the fact the roundabout doesn't really support it.
It's always someone in a BMW, Audi etc. that comes flying up the inside then looks confused as they realise they've got nowhere to go. If you're in the left you have to swing all the way around to avoid anything and most people don't realise that; right pain in the arse of a roundabout
