I'm almost certain that there's another thread, but can't find it for the life of me. e-cookie to whoever finds it so I can merge this into it.

Great price. :)

Great post on what the gameplay is all about here.

Wow. This sounds awesome and something I've been looking for for a long time. I was only the other day thinking that it would be awesome to work on something (I have aspirations of being an indie dev in addition to my day job :p ) that combined aspects of Smash TV and Gauntlet with procedurally generated stuff and levelling/customisation.

Aye, I've always been tempted to give it a crack as well. Yet to get round to it because of a) a lack of time, and b) a lack of any ideas for what to do. :p

I've thought about doing something procedurally generated though. Seems like for a solo developer working to produce something, spending a bit more effort working to produce a good base upon which an infinite number of levels could be created would be far better than spending months creating lots of unique levels, that still run out.

What language do you have a background in FT?

Yeah. I've had a few ideas (and documented them) but nothing has come of it yet :p

All of my recent (last 4/5 years) has been in php/js so not the most suitable for this kind of thing. I've dabbled in C#/java/c++ a bit in an effort to refresh my skills and I really need to just settle down on one of them (not Java even though that's mostly what I did at Uni...I really hate it). How about yourself?

Mostly Java and a bit of C# at uni, and a teeny bit of C, my C++ is pretty weak comparatively which doesn't help when looking toward games. :o All Java with work now though.

I did my disertation in C# using the XNA framework, I suspect if I found the time and idea's soonish, I'd look at using it again. It's got some limitations, but is more than capable for a good Indie game. (Blendo games have used it for their titles I think, Flotilla definitely does).

Sorry for the super slow reply (also an excuse to bump this thread as the game looks awesome).

XNA definitely seems the way to go to get something out relatively quickly with a decent amount of developer tools. I'm just really tempted to try and get something going in webgl for some reason. Must be the usual html5 fever that's floating around at the moment.
