Binge Drinking Britain

This is happening too much :/

Agreeing with you or increasing the punishment for assault? :D

Edit:- LOL yeah I meant teliscoppi. Unfortunatley as he has a big round face as an avatar too! So I say Gilly as that is what you look like in my eyes :D

Wigan use to be very bad for fights in town around the pubs and clubs but ou hardly even hear of it or see it, the main street is full of CCTV and plenty of police hiding around the streets waiting for trouble to happen.

People seem to think that men didn't fight in the 70s or 80s some of the stories my dad has told me proves it was as bad. Beer was cheap back then and its still cheap now.

Well, back in those days there was fighting as there has always been.

Except my Dad was a copper back then, there was no:

"you attacked him, sir, and broke his jaw - I'm affraid thats against health and saftey and politically incorrect. Now be nice to the man and shake hands and be friends" crap.

From what I understood of the country 20+ years ago. If you misbehaved such as fighting or heaven forbid - attacking a police officer - you got a beat down.

Funnily enough, sounds like from what my old man says there wasn't half the trouble of mouthy A holes and fighting back then. Just like teenagers and problem kids now - none of that 20 years ago, because they would have been given a clip around the ear 'ole and told to **** off.

Perhaps its because people aren't scared, don't understand consequence or punishment anymore?

Now, I don't condone Police brutality or even that way of handling criminals, but if it means that thugs that harm innocent people get dealt with...maybe not such a bad thing?

Its mad how hooliganism etc got crushed with a nice heavy handed no no nonsense approach(even though some of that was organised/mutual agreement to fight) but now you'v got scum and yobs attacking anyone and everyone and getting off with a slap on the wrist.

Which magical fantasy land are you living in?

...why? If people can't have a drink, and enjoy the taste of the drink, without getting trollyed while doing it, they need to sort something out to be fair...Banning it is just a pointless statement.
How is it pointless? No more drink related violence, vandalism, abuse, crime or health issues. Please don't suggest that the country couldn't continue without alcohol.

I totally see your point. I see a lot of fights started over women though, I don't think we can ban them but surely we could cover them up, stop them from turning us violent.

If only it wasn't for the evil alcohol and women men would be peaceful and happy and sing hippy songs all day and night.

Because it is, if people can't drink responsibly that's they're own fault.

Of course it could continue without alcohol  Actually, I personally wouldn't care if I couldn't drink over here, as all the largers pretty much suck and taste of badger gentiles.

Why do so many people think its spelt Larger?
You do know you could just get an imported beer/lager instead of drinking stuff brewed here etc too.
Theres more alcohol than just lager anyway, and some people like the freedom of being able to have a drink, sometimes its the only thing that can keep people going through bad times, I imagine if we didnt have booze we would have more suicides.

Because I can't spell properly  Sorry.

Indeed, fully aware I can import beer / buy imported beer...but I don't buy any usually as I don't drink at home.

Indeed, again, fully aware, I like my Ales and everything else too :)

Having spent 3 years at uni in Bournemouth I could tell where the thread was going after the first line.

Weekends are rubbish in Bourneo unless you're going to the Fire Station. The best nights were always mid-week DusktillDawn on a Thursday or 176 on a Wednesday night followed by Shisha at Camel bar and kababbage on the way home!

Panzer

The weekend pissups only get better, more people involved that there was 10 years ago. But with that comes more complete and utter morons who have a few too many, or get violent, or do hard drugs in the wrong places. They ruin it for the rest of us drunks.

ANd it's not binge drinking, that makes it sound like a bad thing. It's getting drunk!

I like going out in bournemouth, I do it once in a while, get a b&b, I love that the next day when I wake up I can spend the day in bournemouth. I used to go there every year as a kid so it holds a dear place in my heart, that I can do what i like to do there, drink and have a good night, then it's a good thing for me.

the word chav gets thrown around far too easily nowdays, chavs dont goto nightclubs.

a student is more likley to throw up over you, rather than start a fight, from my experience I havent had any problems with students

i do agree that small towns people have a "big fish in a little pond" mentality thats already stated earlier.

I have been out solidly for the past 8 years or so, and have only been in two fights, you can easily avoid them

chavs do go to nightclubs......

theres quite a few students who want to start a fight, because theyr trying to be big and hard and show off etc. Obviously chavs/scum have more to prove than students so they are more likely to start though.

chavs are people who sponge off the dole with 4 kids and live on a council estate

Some random guy starting fights in a bar isnt a chav, hes just a idiot :)
