Binge Drinking Britain

the word chav gets thrown around far too easily nowdays, chavs dont goto nightclubs.

a student is more likley to throw up over you, rather than start a fight, from my experience I havent had any problems with students

i do agree that small towns people have a "big fish in a little pond" mentality thats already stated earlier.

I have been out solidly for the past 8 years or so, and have only been in two fights, you can easily avoid them

ditto, 8 years zero fights broke a few up, one where a lad was on the floor and some lad on top of him and a girl putting her shoe in.

Wigan has a mix of clubs where you will get your normal people out for a good time and your scally clubs lads trying to be alpha and have the whole muscles showing and tribal tattoos.

General rule of thumb:

Friday/Saturday = ****s night (Word for a vagina starting with C)

Rest of the week = All good

This is because the majority of chavs go out on Friday and Saturday as a routine.

Maybe my experience is diffrerent , I only find chav's part of the problem, but your spot on about the days. I find a lot of the problem is the work hard play hard mentaity of people. Basically come Friday go and get as drunk as possible to forget work. A lot of people in the UK work in such a presurised work culture, that the only way they believe they can let off steam at the end of the week is to drink as much as possible in as little time as possible. I have a few workmates like that, and thats all they feel the weekend if for.

chavs are people who sponge off the dole with 4 kids and live on a council estate

Some random guy starting fights in a bar isnt a chav, hes just a idiot :)

I live up north, a massive amount of the population are chavs.
Some chavs have jobs, obviously a lot have low skilled jobs etc etc but theyr all idiots who have something to prove etc.

As some one else says its been round for years, just your older and seeing it more, plus the police are weak, not like the pre 80s when they'll slap you just for speaking the wrong way.
plus working life takes a toll, plus under 35 gen dont really have a rosey future compaired to baby boomers.people need to let go, and this is just one of the easier forms to do it.

This post made me laugh. I complete agree with what’s being said but I was riding home a few hours ago and saw a punch between a load of students in Halloween costumers in London road (if any of you know Southampton). I guess he was asking for being dressed up as power ranger.

I personally would say there is always trouble regardless of the night or who’s out.

I think fights will happen anytime just weekends are worst because of the increased numbers and the peoples life’s that involve going out on weekends and wasting there money living for the weekend.

Maybe its just Southampton but I cant think of the last time I went out on any night and didn’t see some sort of fight.

The drink obviously doesn't help but it's a bit of a cop out to say people are violent because they drink too much.

If this low level violence attracted serious punishments I'm fairly sure it would die down - no matter how drunk people get.

I often wonder when the public are going to learn the basic fact that punishment holds no deterrent, it would be nice if it did, but life is sadly not that simple.

I think serious punishments wouldn't be needed. I think what's needed is a much greater chance of being punished at all. Maybe a couple of weekends in jail, maybe a couple of weeks doing forced labour in crappy orange jumpsuits. I'd suggest pink, but that wouldn't be fair because it wouldn't be equally bad for women.

Do you think the kind of people who waste there paychecks getting slaughtered on a Friday and Saturday and have nothing else going for them, will be that afraid of any of the punishments you have mentioned?

Because it is, if people can't drink responsibly that's they're own fault.

Of course it could continue without alcohol  Actually, I personally wouldn't care if I couldn't drink over here, as all the largers pretty much suck and taste of badger gentiles.

Badger gentiles? Do Jewish badgers taste better? I wasn't even aware that badgers could be Jewish :)

Who said anything about fear? Inconvenience and humiliation works better unless you (generic) go to brutal lengths, like public torture shows.

You tend to find that some people are just idiots. They're idiots when sobber, idiots when drunk.

Yep. Meathead alpha males will go out and fight, regardless of booze. The booze does act as a catalyst, but can't be entirely blamed.

Take a beer festival - thousands of people in an enclosed space, all getting trollied and loving it. Absolutely no fighting or aggro whatsoever.

I blame supermarkets and pubs for treating alcoholic drinks like a cheap drug rather than the pleasurable taste and experience that it can offer.

Having spent 3 years at uni in Bournemouth I could tell where the thread was going after the first line.

Weekends are rubbish in Bourneo unless you're going to the Fire Station. The best nights were always mid-week DusktillDawn on a Thursday or 176 on a Wednesday night followed by Shisha at Camel bar and kababbage on the way home!

Panzer

Ah your one of the OFS supporters eh?! I used to love it there first year and then we all realised that its actually disgusting. The toilets get flooded every night, there's **** all over the whole floor, not just in the cubicle, and it smells of sweat everywhere. To be honest there are very few clubs around in Bournemouth that are much better, but at least 2020 and Bliss are slightly better maintained.

On a side-note (talking of chavs) I was queuing in a local shop today before work and decided to buy a poppy for the poppy appeal. Some chav in the queue looked at me as I walked past, turned to his mate and just started mouthing off about how I was a ****** etc, just for buying a poppy and being charitable. I'm seriously starting to think that some of these dictators in the past haven't been totally wrong. Get rid of all their racism etc and just keep their hardline policies on getting rid of the scum and we would have a much better country.

I myself binge drink on the weekends a lot. Responsibility is on yourself but also the person serving drinks when they can clearly see your on your last legs

Lack of deterrent is the problem.

Police can enforce all of the zero tolerance policies they like for drink fuelled violence but the courts apply poor sentencing, even when nasty assaults take place.
