be careful! don't drop it like i did once and bend the pins. Took bloody ages to put them stright again.

i spread a thin layer over cpu, any indication if too much/little?
and how tight should i screw hsf?

ermm not really, as long as there isn't a big gulp of it and its not like plaster should be fine. Screw the heatsink in fairly hard so it makes good contact but don't over tighten it or you'll thread the screws.

the power cable from the hsf is 3 pin-but the connection on mobo is 4 pin?

lol fair enough, yeh it is a 4 pin connector, whats the one out of the fan control thing is that 3 or 4? nearly booting up time

edit, on the anandtech review they just plug the 3 into 4 so i guess its fine

the fan connects to the controller via 2 pin, and i've put the 3 pin fan connector in the 4 pin mobo connection ( said in the intel fan instrustions to use the 3 pin mobo connector if no 4 pin present ( intel fan was 4 pin), so should be same vice versa-and plastic clips on side of connections fit too

its sort of hard to explain, look at this link to a zalman, with the blades that way round it is blowing the air downwards.

generally the side with the sticker one is where it takes the air in
