I'll start by saying I'm a big fan of the game - a classic imo. The artistic direction and fluidity it has, is exactly what's missing in the majority of modern games.
I will say this - it borrows an awful lot from the System Shock/Deus Ex Series. a lot of reviews present these features as original, when in fact, those few of us that went through the amazing System Shock 2 have seen these things already. Unfortunately System Shock 2 didn't sell well, and so the publishers haven't attempted to sell a similar game in a long time.
I believe that lessons that weren't learned from System Shock, are coming back in vogue now, as we're all starting to get tired of generic fps shooters. Developers need new ideas, or in this case a long abandoned one that actually suits the modern gamer quite well. It proves how far SS2 and DeusEx were ahead of their time.
I would look at bioshock as a very worthy spiritual sequal to SS2, and I'd like to see developers learn from it.
Completed MOH:Airborne yesterday, whey too short, finished it in 2 sessions, not unlocked everything, will try that later... But was impressed with it apart from the length of the game...
Completed BioShock today and was really impressed with it, although i think i killed 90% of the creatures in it with the Wrench, had a plasmid that game be both Eve and Health on each hit, so was fun to just rush in and whack everything...
