Bird Flu covid type lockdowns.

I'm far more concerned about an antibiotic resistant bacterial epidemic. Then we really are screwed.

Yeah. Don't even want to think about that one.
Will probably solve the pension issue

Kind of wonder if its a race between viable nanites and antibiotic resistance

Hasn't avian flu made the jump before (h1n1, h2n1 etc)?

I think in the early 2000s my company prepared for lockdowns (completely unheard of then) and gave us us tamiflu for family members.

Good times :D

A lot of antibiotic resistance is driven by pumping animals with them.
More so abroad. But we all share in the effects.

I don't mean to bash meat eating. (I eat some meat) but meat production does not help here. Nor does bad practice around the world throwing our valuable antibiotics around.

Always good to plan, even if never needed.

COVID showed us how absolutely appalling the health service was prepared for a pandemic and very little has been learnt. There's no more beds, no more nurses, no more doctors, we're still cancelling vast amounts of elective surgery to get through the winter and a huge backlog with no plan.

I doubt it would be much better now with them all being on strike. :D

At some point, nature will develop an effective population control

I think its happening.
Not just disease. But when people are citing it's too expensive to have kids.. That natural population decline due to lack Of resources..

Whatever the driver, it looks like population has peaked. No different to all other populations.

Just seen the BBC article on this.
Looks Like 2 people in same family in Cambodia have bird flu.

And they are trying to figure out if it's human to human.

If so.. Not again.

To quote an article in the Telegraph: "The World Health Organisation is “really concerned” the current bird flu outbreak may now be spreading between people for the first time in more than 25 years. An 11-year-old girl died of bird flu in Cambodia this week while her father is also infected and 11 others are under observation, with some showing symptoms. Experts are worried the large cluster might mean that the virus has now evolved to be able to be passed from one human to another."

In other words the WHO is worried about potential person to person transmission and the potential for another epidemic of flu there are no lockdowns planned or anything remotely like that that just sounds like social media gibberish.

Govts should take note but we know ours won't until its too late flu potentially affects children badly unlike Covid look at the panic surrounding Strep A before xmas they don't care much if a few tens of thousands of coffin dodgers snuff it from covid but once a few children start dying and anxious parents are banging on their door they really start to fear for their constituency seats

The good thing with Bird flu is that those that decide to ignore the rules or any lockdowns or to go to bird flu parties will simply get it and die lol.

Bird flue has a high mortality rate.

It could be really bad. Only positive if it happened now is summer is on the way.

Wonder when we will know about testing of other people in the area.

It could mutate in a way that isn't too virulent. But it's a bit of a lottery. Got lucky with covid. Well, relatively. Could have been far worse.
