Bird Flu covid type lockdowns.

I haven't read the whole thread, so apologies if this has been mentioned previously.

We had a letter from the council the other day informing us that Avian Flu had been detected within X distance/radius of our property. There's a chicken farm about 3/4 mile away, as the crow flies, so we're wondering if it's been detected there. I walk near said farm when I take the dog out, and all chickens, if there's any there, are in what looks like sealed barns.

There's also been some road signs appear where I work, 20 miles up the road, stating "Avian Influenza Surveillance Zone". Perhaps it's been detected there too.

Has the council mentioned any form of local lockdown not just for its birds, but citizens too?

You've missed what sidimmu was actually on about :)
It is a lengthy thread though.
I kind of got the gist ;)

I did have evidence, but I incinerated it in the log burner. Can provide pics when I'm next in work lol.

However, in the interests of transparency, there's also a nature reserve a mile away, so it may have been detected there. Or in neither of those places.

People lockdowns won't work. We've already had several recent trial runs at that. The ineptitude of the local populous, including family members, was off the scale.

This is true, I was being a bit sarcastic but not directly to you @FBi7
I wouldn't bother reading the thread, its painful.
Haha, no worries. Sarcasm detector is functioning perfectly this evening.

Was just trying to inject some legitimacy into the thread. Sorry, I won't do it again :D

you bought it back to topic friend, keep it up mate, I am sure anyone in here apart from maybe one will applaud you for bringing it back to the topic at hand.
If you got some legitimate sources for your information though, that would be wonderful ;) Least before your log burner eats your homework again :p

got a letter months and months ago saying there'd been a bird flu outbreak "in you area" ~ apparently the whole country, cos people from Blackpool, London and other places got them ~ and i've heard nowt since, nor seen a single dead bird lying on the ground. so, not unduly bothered about any supposed lockdowns.

Honestly I'm beginning to think Lysander and TheKwango are correct but don't want to believe them.
course you don't want to believe me, cause believing me will spoil your fun little superiority game. i'd also appreciate you doing me the courtesy of at least tagging me if you're going to name drop.
After the Pentagon thread I'm never asking you for links again because two posters accused me of bullying because they think you have learning disabilities.
i've already corrected you on this. i never used that term.

it's quite ironic you using the term learning difficulties considering you keep asking the same person pretty much the same thing over and over across multiple threads, when you really should have twigged by now you aren't getting the reply that you want from them.
It is bullying because nobody has ever been asked for links/evidence before - EVER.
asking for links isn't bullying. but nice try.

Same here, I work with a Lawyer and two Solicitors so used to asking for evidence/reports daily.
surely if you work in legal you've encountered this sort of thing before, folk making spurious claims they'll never be able to back up? at what point do you stop asking for evidence and simply accept you might as well howl at the moon? although i'm not sure what you do for work really has any bearing on having a debate on a forum.

Not sure about flu. But there's a bit of male chicken fighting going in in here! :o

Hope to let my hens out when weather improves after flu season.. Fingers crossed

I just have 2. If I ever go down to 1 I get 2 or 3 more to take it up to 4. Chickens are social birds so they don't like being on thier own.

I'd say if you have 2-3 it isn't much work. More have more eggs get but more work (more poo basically)

With my 2 I can easily leave them a week and water and food will not run out. I do have a remote Google cam just so I can check on them. I wouldn't leave them that long otherwise. Any issues I can ask neighbour to go around.

For 2-4 I have a 2m*4m run (plenty enough for 4) and in spring to autumn (with no bird flu) they roam around the rough bit of the garden. And a 2ft by 2ft House in this run.

Be wary of vet bills with rescues. I have a farm vet and they are super cheap and also better than normal vets.

I'd say they take me under an hour a week. With that hour mainly used for a weekly tidy of the run (every 2 weeks with 2 hens)

All they need
-layer pellets in 20kg bags and put in a 2kg hopper in house
-bit of straw or something for the house
-wood chip is what I use for run
-water in a 5l hopper

That's about it
Coop right now. Need a top up of wood chip

Well if you can be bothered to read I've promised him I will never ask for links/evidence again because of you and I'll keep that promise because of your superior intellect of knowing exactly why I was asking him in the first place because your mind thinks it was to score point.
Honestly, get a life and don't bother with me again.
I will not be replying to you so it will be pointless.

i did read it......not sure superior intellect has a lot to do with it. you're just too obvious in your dogged posts aimed at the op.

i'll bother you all i want if you drop my name and/or misreference my posts. maybe you should take your own advice and get a life and stop badgering the same person for the same things over and over again when you know full well you aren't going to get what you're asking them for. seems a bit like a no-lifers behaviour?

good. apply that mindset to the op's posts while you're at it.

When i said dont reply to me to him all i got was thats not how forums work from someone else. Cant make it up can you.

At one time if i warned him of danger of a water fall if he was on rapids he would have wanted evidence and called me conspiracy theorist but carried on to proceed. Just because i said it.

OK, I'm always willing to apologise if I made a mistake so I apologise and it was the other guy who posted the learning difficulties comment.
These are your words inferring there's something wrong with him where I don't think there is, I think he's one of the best trolls we've had:

TheKwango
you're starting to embarrass yourself now. if you're getting your jollies out of pestering someone for a confession when they clearly have issues that says a whole lot more about you than them. as someone else already posted, it's akin to picking on the simple kid at school, you're trying to force him to admit something you already know without needing his admission.

TheKwango
Resent it all you want, it’s what you’ve been doing. I don’t think I’ve said the chap has learning difficulties just that there’s obviously some sort of underlying issue

@skipper847 , why are you putting up with people saying stuff like that about you when I've never said stuff like that?
