Bird stuck in chimney

It will stay alive up there for sometime.
You need to get chimney cleaning rods. Fix an empty net (like ones oranges come in) to the end and try to get a feel of where the bird is, if you get lucky the bird will get caught on the net (get its feet caught) and you can push it out.
I found the brush idea didnt work, it just went over the bird.

I've called RSPCA and rspb and it seems they don't care for animals over the weekends as there is no answer

I can't find the picture but we had a terrible time with flies everywhere and put fly killers up - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17747096&highlight=chimney+username_dmpoole
Every day for a week we would find 100s of dead flies by the patio door so one friday evening I made my wife + kids sit there until a fly was spotted coming out of something.
One daughter saw a fly come from behind the fireplace and on investigation there were 3 dead pidgeons behind the fire.

Yeah DM this happened in my parents house when I was young
Magpie nest with dead magpies
I've never seen so many flies

Sounds grim.

Or throw a strong string down your chimney. Attach a tennis ball or something to the end in your fireplace. Then pull the string and it'll bring the bird along with it?

This is when you want to rescue a young girl who has been kidnapped by poltergeist.
