Birmingham town center what a crap hole.

Birmingham is good for carpet shops. Seriously like 6-7 in a row in some places...

I have Asian friends who lived next door to me, and when they moved to Birmingham, even they were shocked at the cultural difference. :p

lol, city life is certainly different! B'ham has the vote for the worst behavior or something doesn't it?

Theres nothing wrong with Birmingham with all issues you raised. Yes there are a lot of people of different races, so? The people are in no way rude, in fact Brummies are some of the nicest people I deal with. The city centre is "okay" too.

Have you ever been to Luton? Stevenage? Boston? Wisbeach? Jesus, now we're talking about issues. Everytime I go to Boston and talk to a native they warn me not to go near Wisbeach because its full of imbred, gypsy, immegrients and they'll rape, kill or mug you (and the same with natives of Wisbeach to Boston)
Luton, just WOW!! so many issues it makes Birmingham look a lovely place, and I often drive back from Luton and look forward to seeing Stoke on Trent again, bizarre!!
Stevenage, I've never heard so many people from one place desperate to tell you how rough it is there.

If your after recommendations of nice cities: Chester is one of my favourites followed by Bristol next.

As for Stafford! you are joking right? as mentioned, the place bores me to tears. The only place in stafford worth visiting is the service station on the M6, Costa is good here.

I went Birmingham today...

One minute I felt like I was in Pakistan, Then Africa and as I carried on it changed to Japan. I never felt that much of an outcast before.

OH OK.

Maybe you should avoid big cities then, seeing as their being multi-cultural offends you so much. That's one of the best things about places like Birmingham. I hate when people like you come along and call it a problem.

Ooo hear comes the your a racist crowd. lol I can't remember insulting other races in my first post I just said I felt like an outcast which is true.

Birmingham, I agree, can be a little intimidating.

Black country is where it's at. To an outside we probably all seem rude, but once you open your mouth and the accent comes out, you're often treated like one of the family. Obviously this isn't everywhere, but I do feel there is a strong sense of community here.

I'm very surprised by some of the replies in this thread, well....almost.

In Glasgow(or even Scotland?) there is no apparent immigration problem, which makes the media and it's palaver largely unbelievable. However, I have family which recently relocated to Coventry which if memory serves correctly is relatively near Birmingham? They genuinely couldn't believe the sheer amount of African/Asian/whatever living there. Anyway, I now see where a lot of you chaps are coming from, but there's still no need to be racist.

Worcester is quite nice on a summer day, midlands based at least.

No, no it's not. Worcester is a big big dump and I can't wait to get a job somewhere else :D

Personally I really like Brum, although that's probably because I have a lot of friends from school and uni working and living right in the center (ie the nice part) round Brindley Place and the like. It's also a tip top night out.

If you're there on a Friday head to a bar/club called Mechu; absolutely fantastic place!

Stafford? STAFFORD?! Are you having a laugh?!

Did a years placement in Worcester, loved the town every bit, wish I could go live there... :(

I love threads like this. OP makes a comment about the number of foreigners in Birmingham, and along comes the "You're a racist" crowd to have a pop.

I bet if the OP was black and complaining that he feels like an outcast in Birmingham, then all of a sudden the same people would start scurrying around like hyperactive ferrets trying to put it right.

But no, it's an English person, feeling like an outcast in an English city. So racist it is.
