Hi guys, well you may have seen the thread where I chose my components (with help) and now I am finally allowed to open the box of bits that has sat in the corner of my room for a couple of days. Anyway people asked for pics so I thought I may as well take them as I go and then if I get stuck I can have help. :)

The spec is:
CPU: AMD Phenom x4 955 BE
GPU: MSI GTX 560ti twin frozr II
PSU: bequiet 530W power supply
Motherboard: Gigabyte M68MT-S2
Cooler: Corsair A50
Case: Coolermaster 370
RAM: Corsair XMS3 2x2GB

Anyway first I am going to mount the PSU to the case

And the PSU is mounted, have to go and phone some family then I'll move onto building the mobo out of the case :)

You wanna put your full spec in the OP for people who missed your 'spec me' thread or people who just can't remember (that's me :))

Good start though, looking forward to the rest :p

I swear, this Corsair A50 isn't fitting, must be something Im missing, it is like more than 3 mm off being able to fit behind the two bits (This makes no sense) Must be something I am missing.

Again please?

Are you trying to get it to clamp to the AM3 socket plastic mounting frame?

Or is it a bolt through mounting?

Don't worry I found out what was wrong, The CPU hadn't dropped into the pins properly (I had been told that no pressure need be applied and it would just drop in but obviously it didn't when I locked it,) just started from the beginning, reapplied thermal paste and it worked. Phew I was getting annoyed.

And yes I am using the AM3 socket plastic mounting frame

For ****s sake, now I mounted it the wrong way, Fan sticks out over PCIEx16 slot. Oh well, third time lucky I guess

Alright, now I have to use the resistor for the fan to reach the power for it. So have I done it wrong again? I assumed that the graphics card wouldn't fit with the fan hanging over but now that the wire doesn't reach I don't know what way to put it. Here are some pics of how it is now, I'll wait to see your responses this time.

Should have a connector nearer the CPU. That's a chassis fan header. Could be hidden underneath the heat sink.

Fun, isn't it! :p

hmm I think I see the fan header right next the CPU on second picture. And it's white! Look up the motherboard manual. I would orientate the fan so it hangs over the memory slots and sucks air towards the back of the case.

If you rotate the cooler, you'll have clean up the thermal gunk and reapply. :) 4th time's a charm.

The only way to know if it will fit witha graphics card is to try it really. I don't know the motherboard however regarding the fan cable, surely the cpu_fan header is closer to the cpu socket than that! Looking good for the build too :)

Aaaah Life savers, basically that thing had 4 pins and the plug only had 3 holes so I didn't think it was it but it fits on fine just missing out one of the pins, it also says CPU_fan next to it :p

Anyway the fan can only go North to South or South to north and I thought that it would be better to suck cool in air from the top. Picture will come when I have mounted the mobo, I think thats what I do next :p

Alright got the motherboard in, it took like an hour, the screws behind the cooler were simply impossible I swear

Anyway having trouble fitting the GPU now, I know I said it about the heatsink but I swear it doesn't fit. :p

just wondering, do you need to remove two of the expansion slots for the GPU, or just one?

might be why its not fitting
*edit*
there are some vents at the back of the card, so it will probably help removing that 2nd expansion slot, as this will be its air intake. you will need to cut them away with a knife or something by the looks of things

You are all correct :p I only took out one of the slots, sorry it has been so long I was installing Windows 7. My Dad reckons that an XBOX will still put out better graphics as it is a dedicated games machine (He is a noob) so what games would be best for showing off the graphics that are for now free? I'll get steam up and running tomorrow but for now I need to show off for free :)

Anyway here is a piccie for you all, I haven't bothered with any cable management yet but it's quite difficult as all of the wires are like connected to each other and there is no cable management features with the case.

I had it that way before and it was touching the graphics card putting pressure on it so that I couldn't put in the screws for the GPU to the slots at the back.

Crysis Demo? The Witcher demo? Metro 2033 demo?

None of these appear to exist although I am downloading Half life 2: Lost Coast as that is meant to be a good looking game and is free because of the Nvidia card.

Temps are at 29 degrees for CPU and max has been 35 but then I haven't exactly done much :p GPU is at 34. I'll see how these shoot up when I start playing a game.
